Satan defied God because he was made the most beautiful angel with the highest power of angels. He became full of pride and wanted to be as high and higher than God. God, of course, would not let that request be granted, so therefore, Satan (who is Lucifer) decided to rebel. This was not ordered by God, Angels also have free will. It was a CHOICE that Lucifer made and 1/3 of the other Angels made the CHOICE to rebel with him. They are better known as demons or fallen angels. This is why in the desert, Satan tries to tempt Jesus with many earthly things and promises if Jesus will just bow down and worship him. Jesus, of course, tells Lucifer no and rebukes (sends away) him. Satan isn't exactly jealous of humans, he uses humans to try to get back at God, as he knows God loves his creation of humankind. That is why Satan continues to try to lead mankind away from God, he thinks he can win, but he can not.

Because of pride. He wanted to be God.

In the book of Isaiah talks about Satan. He was know as Lucifer. He was the highest of the arc angels. He was over worship through his own pride he wanted what God had. He had set in his heart to set his thrown above God.

Isaiah 14:13&14 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most high.

satan mainly was a demon , but he saw the angels kneeling for god so he knelt with them , so god made him the most Beautiful angel as angels are Obligied to worship god without free will , but satan knelt with his own free will , thats why god perfered him upon other angels and made him the most beautiful one . when god created adam he ordered all the angels to kneel to him as a sign that god has prefered humans upon everything else He has created , but satan told god '' you want me to bow to this creature whom You created out of mud while i am the most beautiful angel , this will never happen '' so god punished satan by kicking him out of hell , because of satan arrogance

Because he wanted to BE God.

12 How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!

13 You said in your heart,
"I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.
14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High."

Satan wanted to be better than God. Hence, he got kicked out of Heaven for that.

because god wanted (and allowed) him too

god sees all, knows all and can contol all (including destroy all)

are you telling me god didnt see this whole satan thing coming?

and since he has yet to do anything aobut it were left with a few conclusions:

1. god doesent care about satan (and allows him to do as he pleases)

2. god WANTS satan to do what he does (and doesent seem to care about stopping him)

3. god cant stop him.god can make satan go poof in the blink of an eye. yet he does nothing...so what does that say about your god?

you choose.
