Samson sacrificed himself for the sake of others, not because he was seeking an end to his life. There is something special about giving of yourself for someone else and to sacrifice your life for the lives of others is held in high regard. Also, because we cannot know what happens in someone's mind, we cannot know what has transpired between them and God at the end of their life. It is foolishness to look at a situation of suicide and assume that we can predict how God views that situation. Murder is outlawed, but I believe other than using that interpretation to judge suicide, the Bible is silent in regards to taking your own life. If someone knows of a verse I have missed please list so that I may study it. Thanks.

Think about it this way. A man has been kidnapped and blind folded by some militants. They spent many days inflicting pain on him, raped him, and promises to kill him, but only after killing his wife and kids and a whole bunch of innocent bystanders.
This guy manages to get the blindfold positioned just so that he can see through a little tear in it. He sees 15 men preparing what looks to him as bombs. Finally, one guy starts to speak into his cellphone in English; Hears the words, "Biggest suicide attack the world has ever seen." Finally he hears that 12 of the 15 will carry out the attack the next night at an outdoor festival.
This night the guys leave him alone and while they are in prayers, he hears one man say that all their sins will be forgiven by dieing a martyr.
He has a little strength and has been working on getting loose all day. In pain, he moves swiftly to to remove his blind fold. He knows he will not get past those guys alive so he grabs one of the 12 bomb vests and a cell phone on the table. Dials emergency. Puts the phone down so the dispatchers can hear.
He yells out loud his name and to a startled group of suicide bombers and their handlers explains that he is forced to do this to save the lives of countless people. He then detonates the bomb.
Is he a hero? Answer this and you'll have the answer to your question.

I am not sure that Samson didn't committ suicide. I think the moral of the story, as is in most of the Bible's "heros", is that they are human as we are human and make mistakes like we do. They were not perfect people yet God still uses them and us to accomplish is mission

it wasn't suicide. It was a sacrifice, in the same way Jesus sacrificed himself for us. Samson did what he did to glorify God, and indeed he did. i want to make a movie about Samson one day, actually he sort of reminds me of me, i was a stupid slave to romance once also.
Anyway, suicide is a selfish taking of one's life for your own purposes. Sacrifice of one's life is giving up one's life for a greater cause other than one's own glory or honor or reputation, but for God and a friend.
