Get him his very first bible... Or a daily devotion... This keeps his faith and interest in God growing and allows him to study more.. Or if hes into music get him a uplifting Cd from artist like Casting Crowns... etc....

Get him a bible if he doesn't already have one. Other than that, love him and pray for him daily because the enemy will do everything he can to hinder this young mans walk with God. As far as an item, you can usually pick up these really neat gold or silver page markers or something like that that say "confirmed in Christ" from any Christian bookstore. That's what I gave my students in my class. Or maybe a shirt or something that shows his decision to be identified with Jesus.

A special frame to surround a picture of him, to remember his special day. The journal idea above sounds like an excellent idea.

A picture frame for him to put a photo of him on his baptism day (try to aim for at least a silver plated frame and have it engraved with his name and date of baptism)

I got aa journal to record my experience, and I've heard of other people getting a new set of Scriptures and a Scripture case.

A christian book is always appropriate. Or a Bible if you know his parents aren't getting him one. A christian t-shirt would also be cool. Check out amazon.com or artapart.com for more diverse designs.
