I've never heard that one before. The Bible teaches that we are to be modest in all things, which includes the way we dress.

I'm glad I get to finally post this as an answer......Women should get really indignant about it.
1 Timothy.
2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I
speak the truth in Christ, [and] lie not;) a teacher of the
Gentiles in faith and verity.
2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up
holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in
modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with
broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with
good works.
2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp
authority over the man, but to be in silence.
2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived
was in the transgression.
2:15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if
they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
And the above is one good reason to walk away from Christianity if you're a woman who wants to be more than a chattel baby machine. And, so the context complaint can't be used, you've got the whole garbage can.
If you want the Truth.....Ask a Pagan.

1 Timothy 2:9-10 says, "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, a
ppropriate for women who profess to worship God."
God calls women to discretion. I love this verse! Proverbs 11:22 says, "Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion."

1 Timothy 2:9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel,
with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold,
or pearls, or costly array;
1 Corinthians 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with
her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as
if she were shaven.
11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn
So--I hope you obey Paul--& don't wear jewelry,curl your hair,or leave your head uncovered--it would be a shame to have your hair shaved off by some rabid fundamentalist.

It does not say that.
However, the freedom we have to dress "normally" would also include dressing in a way that would not stumble a weak believer or a non-believer. It also means that we do not dress in such a way as to call attention to ourselves.
The worship of God is the focus of church services.
People should not focus on "self' when preparing to go to church.

i dont beleive there is one. ive read the bible 3 times and i cant remember ever seeing anything.
usually the conservative dressing comes from consevative people, not the bible. they just assume that they should dress a certain way out of respect for....i dont know..something

Well, it says not to mix two different types of fabric in Leviticus. And it chastises women who wear gaudy clothing or jewelry.
But why do you want to control your life with a bunch of silly, useless rules?
