Okay,so,I know it's possible to lose this much by jogging for an hour every day, but what if I walked instead? I just went for a jog and felt sick, tired and sore-can I just do a brisk walk? Will this have the same benefits?

Like, they always say "Joggers/runners are always skinny and have skinny legs." Is it the same for walkers?

I don't think I can jog for an hour every single day until June, but I KNOW I can power-walk.

Actually a brisk walk is the best form of excercise for women and men. What I do is interval walking/jogging. I'll walk for 30 minutes, jogged for 2, walked for 3 jogged for1......you get your second wind and if you are only jogging for a short time you can look forward to walking in a minute or 2. I shaped up quick doing this. It's great cardiovascular, less harmful on joints and internal organs. Just brisk walking is more than the average American. Give yourself some credit and don't let something you dread keep you from exercising. Good for you! Andee_sky

Think of it this way... Anything that you do is better than nothing. If you walk you're still exercising. Power walking is better for your body as a whole because it is easier on your joints and bones than jogging. When you jog or run, you are pounding on everything, but when you walk you are being much more gentle on your body. I prefer to walk at a brisk pace, unless I need to get somewhere and I can't use my car, then I run.

It's not what you are doing but how far you are doing it. Walking or jogging for a mile burns about the same calories. So as long as you do it for the same distance you will experience the benefits.

Actually walking briskly is probably a better option for you until you are more fit. Its easier on your joints. Just increase the length of your walking and you should be able to move up to jogging later when you are more fit if you feel you need to.

Hooray! I am so glad to read your question. Of course, walking is much better for you and your knees will last longer; you wont have to have bilateral knee replacements at age 50. I see these pained expressions on joggers faces. There are certain races that are made for it and i dont think you are one of them so relax and enjoy your power walk. Enjoyment should be part of your exercise regime. Good for you.

C. is greater effective yet i'd decrease it to half-hour an afternoon. It relies upon on your physicality and staying power. walking or what i like to call means walking is large and much less annoying on the knees. walking is a continuing pounding and would reason greater injuries. Swing the arms and as them arise breathe out. attempt to get some prone roads in there and don't end considering you will desire to get that coronary heart fee up. you would be able to even desire to apply some gentle hand weights. commence slowly and gradually improve some time, particularly in case you haven't any longer exercised in awhile or in any respect. continually heat up via stretches, somewhat on your hamstrings or you will concern your self to injuries. placed on sturdy and supportive athletic footwear.
