He wants to know what you have to do in training, always wanted to know what it is like? He wants to go to downtown San Diego, where we live near, and say hello to all the Navy, and Marines we see. He wants to say thank you to you. I think, being an adult, we might look silly, and stupid, but I'll do it if he wants to. What say you? He wanted to ask, so I typed it for him.
Laugh at us, if you want, but my son want's what he wants, and he loves you. As do I.

I am not a soldier a marine a Navy seal or anything like that but i am an Army Wife and i know that if some nine year old were to tell my husband thank you we would be overwhelmed that a nine year old would take his time to think of the men in the military every one in the Military could use a good little boost and it means more when they hear it from the kids. My Husband loves the Army it is hard but he makes it the men have to wake up at 4:45 every morning for PT and go on through their day till it ends around Seven the go out in the fields for days at a time eating MRE's and stay up all night training i am sure my husband could tell you more. But being away from our little boy and i could probably be the hardest thing. And it is hard on the others as well i hope this answer helped out a little bit. And coming from a military wife i am so pleased that your little boy would want to say THANK YOU it shows a lot.

My husband would say thank you also. I know that there is alot of different training. But with the Army they do p.t (physical training) ALL the time. My husband is a Army Ranger and in his platoon they do p.t. twice a day. Push ups, sit ups, road marches, they run on the beach for 3-5 miles daily. And if they don't feel like excercising they play some basketball or do some under water activities. They are always doing physical fitness stuff.

I'm saying thanks for him cause he's gone at EFMB right now which is a school that is 3 weeks long. I am a very proud Army wife!!

First part; it depends on which service you are in. I was in the Army first and then the Air Force. While there are some similarities the focus is very different. The Army training is very physical and regimented. The Air Force training was more scholastic and cerebral. Both required weapons training and physical conditioning.

Part two; I think any airman, soldier, seaman or marine would be honored and pleased to be thanked by a nine year old and/or his mom or dad. It's good to know people care and we don't always hear it. I also think it would be a good exercise in citizenship for your son.

my son is in the local boy scouts. He is 10 years old. His whole troop went to a local army post to visit. the soldiers were so nice! they showed the boys everything. they let them run around on part of the course they use. and then at the end, they gave every little boy a MRE to take home. It was a great experience for the kids and even us adults were educated some.

Your son saying thank you would give a lot of Military People a big lift. They would also answer his questions if they have the time. In basic you get up at revile, make your bed, shave, do PT, shower, eat, march, go to class, eat, march some more, more class, and then you have other things as Bivouacs, arms training, 20 miles hikes, cleaning the dorm/barracks. You do get some free time but only when you earn it and everyone has to earn it.

I am Navy, not what you would see in Marine bootcamp. In the Navy we work hard on physical fitness, being detached from your family, and the strict life you must follow while living without the regular ammenities you're use to. I live aboard a submarine and bootcamp is almost a joke compared to my daily life now. Bootcamp gives you a glimpse of what living without can be like.

it is never silly to say thank you. we always appreciate it.

at the air force academy, we have 6 weeks of boot camp and then pretty intense training and school for another 9 months before we become upperclassmen. (he prolly wont find that to exciting.)

in training we do lots of pushups, running, and yelling. for a while they give us rifles and we go train out in the mountains. if he comes to the usaf academy, he can do flight or parachute training too.

since i was in about 4th grade, i knew i wanted to be at the air force academy. now im a freshman here. aim high.

They will laugh, most definitely. But it wouldn't be a bad laughter.

I'm Army not Marine, but I say do it. Call the AG of the post and ask them. (Adjunct General)
