I feel fine now (fell asleep after, and slept all night, flet fine all day today) no lingering nausea or anything. However, on the sides of my face, and around one eye, I still have these blotches. Most are very tiny, like the point of a pencil. And there are lots of them. The skin is not raised and no itching, so I am wondering if these could be little tiny hemorrhages due to the extensive retching. Sorry if this is gross. Since I feel fine, I don't want to waste time at the Doctors, if this is a normal side effect of vomiting sometimes. Never happened to me before.

That's exactly what you did- vomited so hard you broke tiny capillaries in your face and eye. That's some BAD seafood. It should go away and not leave any marks.

Vomiting from consumption of spoiled and contaminated seafood is a sign of salmonella or botulinum food poisoning.. However, your case is minor as the episode of vomiting is only once. When i had salmonella food poisoning; i had several days of bouts of vomitng;fever and diarrhea. requiring hospitalization and IV infusions. to avoid dehydration.

The reddish purplish blotches on your face and around your eyes are still the residual effects of the allergic reaction to the poisonous toxins. One of the major functions of the liver is detoxification of toxins or poisons in the body . It produces certain enzymes to metabolize or breakdown drugs as well produce clotting factors to prevent you from bleeding. These tiny DIC ( dessiminated intravascular clotting) hemorrhages are the detoxifying action of the liver . No, this is not the result of "extensive retching "

Several yrs, ago I had such similar allergic reaction - reddich-purplishes blotches all over my body. This was after I ate too many green mangoes one time when i was in Hawaii. There was a bad crop of mangoes that year. I had to go to Kaiser clinic to get some steroid injection.(Decadron) which is an anti-inflammatory drug.

I wouldn't worry if you have no further vomiting, fever, reddish rashes all over body esp the extremities; and body malaise (generalized weakness) and pinprick needle pains all over the body associated with it. I also experienced it after I reacted from Septra ( prescribed for my UTI.). I didn't know then that I was allergic to sulfas. In time, the rash should go away. Just observe for any respiratory ( another anaphylactic or allergic reaction).difficulty Drink a lot of fluids.

No, it's not a side effect of vomiting. It's an allergic reaction to the seafood. Since you don't have the associated itching and breathing difficulty, you're probably fine. You may want to take something like bendryl to combat the reaction. Since seafood allergies can be deadly, if you start ot itch or swell, go to the Emergency Room. When it comes to a threat to your life, trust me, a doctor's time is never wasted.

you are correct; this is from some major retching. Major retching like that in the absence of other symptoms indicates spoiled seafood. Glad you're feeling better.

You have a allergy and the medicine is cheap. Go to the drugstore and buy it over the counter.
