scares me:
I got a kitten yesterday and she has hardly eaten or drank anything. I have tried to give her canned food, hard food, and kitten formula.
She did drink some formula but only by licking it off my finger and she had about 6 pieces of hard kitten food.

scares me more:
Also, she hasn't gone to the bathroom at all in over 24 hours. I'm afraid she will get constipated and I don't know how to prevent it.

You might stimulate her to urinate by wiping under her tail with a warm (not hot!) wet wash cloth (it will be similar to her mother's tongue). Do not try to force solid food into her. This sounds like a very, very young kitten who should NEVER have been taken from her mother yet. Call the vet's office NOW!

How old is your kitten? It could be that she is just scared to her new surroundings.

I got my kitty when she was four months old. The first night she was here she was freaked out! I kept her in the kitchen and sealed off access to the rest of the house. I showed her where her food and litter box was at, even placed her in it a couple of times. It took her a while (almost a two weeks) before she was trully comfortable in the kitchen. Then I let her explore the other areas but again she got a little freaked out and would hide underneath the bed. Eventually she got used to everything.

So don't worry, she may just be freaked out. If she's frighten she won't eat. Mine didn't, not until the next day. Even then it took her about 7-10 days to get into a feeding schedule.

If your kitty is really little where she needs formula then just give her that. Don't try feeding her anything else until she is done with the formula. Afterwards I would recommend feeding her a LITTLE BIT of wet food (too much gives them the runs and trust me you don't want that!!). Or you could do what I do and that is feed her hard food but pour a little water in it to make it soft. Remember they have baby teeth and the dry food is way too hard for them, in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

thedavec…is right. It really sounds as if your kitten was too young to be removed from her mother. It's evening (where I am at least) so what you need to do for now is to get some kitten milk replacer (you can get it at pet stores or superstores) and try to get her to take that. If you cannot, try diluted sweetened condensed milk (50/50 water to milk). She needs to be hydrated. First thing in the morning get a hold of your vet and get her in to be seen. You can try to soak some kitten food in water until it's softened and mushy and see if she'll try it. If she's as young as I think she is, she probably can't chew hard food very well.

It sounds like your kitty should still be with its kitty-mom. Right now I am bottle feeding kittens, and it sounds like that is what you will need to do.

1. Buy KMR (or something similar) and mix according to directions
2. Feed to kitten using a "pet bottle" or itty bitty baby bottle
3. Wet a paper towel with water and gently rub your kitty's bottom/privates until he/she urinates

*Defecating is unlikely if your kitty isn't eating hard food, but if he is peeing and eating formula he will be fine

If you are in the Boston area and would like help with this, I would be happy to show you.

GOOD LUCK

Get to the vet NOW.

It sounds like the kitten is too young to be off its mother's teat. But I can't tell from here.

Again; get to the vet NOW. If you got the kitten yesterday, you have no way of knowing how long this has already been going on.

she is probably just really scared of her new home. when i got my puppy, dante, he wouldnt eat or potty either.. he was just terrified. then all of a sudden, he chowed down and peed and pood all over the place.

just give her time to get used to things... she'll eat when shes hungry and feels more comfortable.. same with pottying.
