I heard that last week sometime or over the weekend that the Golden Gate bridge exploded or melted or something. I've looked for info on it but can't find any. Please don't think I'm stupid. I don't know weather to believe this or not.

Gasoline truck on an access road.

At 3:45 a.m., a truck carrying 8,600 gallons of unleaded gasoline overturned on a freeway transition road, creating an inferno with flames leaping 200 feet high and temperatures exceeding 2,000 degrees. The heat weakened the steel supporting a connector road above.

About 250 feet of the upper road -- the connector from eastbound Interstate 80 to eastbound interstates 580 and 980 and highway 24 -- collapsed onto the connector from westbound I-80 to southbound 880.

The accident, in which a tanker truck carrying gasoline crashed and exploded on a portion of freeway that connects Interstate 80 to southbound Interstate 880, decimated two major segments of the MacArthur Maze. The crash melted an overhead connector to Interstate 580, causing it to collapse. Both areas of those freeways have been closed, prompting widespread fear of traffic nightmares.

It was part of the Oakland Bay Bridge. A tanker truck wrecked and caused a fire that weakened parts of the bridge tot he point that it caused a collapse.

According to the news report the driver of the truck had previous felonies and shouldn't have even been allowed to drive a truck carrying dangerous materials. So apparently the anti-terrorism screening is working great.

A major overpass in LA came crashing down when an oil tanker hit a beam under it & caught fire & blew up, blowing down the overpass.
