We should all strive to be independent in thoughts and to act with integrity.

Unique is too difficult a challenge (almost as impossible as "perfect"), as we 7 billion humans have more in common than we do differences. I think that genuine and authentic are more appropriate words.

I show my "individuality" by finding something that I have in common with each person I encounter. We may be decades apart in age and have what appears to be completely different tastes and lifestyles, but if you try, we WILL find something that we both like. Had you been born into a time and situation similar to mine, we'd probably have even more in common.

So it's OK to do things that other people also do, as long as you would do it regardless of what others think. Keep an open mind and never think for a moment that you are better than anybody else, because no human is truly in a position to judge another, since we are all flawed.
