Bettie, I feel horrible. Not just gorillas. I saw a polar bear that had been driven insane by captivity. Walking backwards in a circle (in a cramped enclosure) - doing this sad obsessive-compulsive "dance."

I can't even go to zoos. Just too inhumane and unnatural for me.

I coudn't tell you. I haven't been in a zoo since 1985. I don't know what's so cool about caged animals.

Sad, if I am thinking about it. Likewise with any animal. The worst was seeing a squirrel in a tiny revolving cage where he just went round and round.

They smell a little. But they shouldn't live in a cage for our own personal amusement and for business.
