One God? I don't think so! Take Buddhism (Indian) for example. Brahma is the 'supreme being' but within Buddhism there are many other gods, like Siva and Vishnu. Take the Shinto religion (Japanese) which also worships a number of ethnic divinities, from the chief of which the emperor is believed to be descended.

Then we have "the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob", originally the God of the Hebrew nation, from which the Jewish nation is descended. The religion of Islam claims to worship this God, as do Christians and Jews. However, Muslims expressly deny that a true believer could ever be a Jew or a Christian.

There are many gods and anyone who believes "all roads lead to god" is sadly misinformed. Rather than attempt to claim one religion is better than another, should we not be trying to find out who the almighty, creator God of the universe is and what he wants from us?

I have no religion. I am open to all beliefs which is better than any religion i have seen. Even if being open to others is part of the core of a religion it seems to be rarely followed. Religion as a whole seem to cause far more problems than it solves in the modern world, so i believe that having no particular religion is best, but still respect the teachings of religion.

I don't believe in religions,I believe that we all have choices and the right to make them (or not).
Let's talk about religions the way they are though...
No religion is better than the next one,or worse for all that matters.
It's what works for you that counts.
There really is only one God...for each and every one of us...but it doesn't HAVE to be the same God for all of us!
Your God may live in heaven and my God may live in a single mum's heart who's trying to make the day for her and her child!
We all idolise someone and that someone can be anyone.
What makes my choice better than yours? Nothing at all!
And that's the beauty of it!
Free will.....right?:-)

I do agree with you that we all believe in one god. I've been trying to get people to understand this for years, but some just can't grasp the idea. As a Wiccan, I believe that my religion is the best (the best for me, not the best for everyone) because it teaches taking responsibility for your own actions, working hard towards positive change in your life, and a closeness with nature - some things that have been forgotten in modern Christianity.

I am a Pagan, that is, I worship the Gods and Goddesses of pre-Christian Europe, in particular of Ireland. It's very earth-based, and relates to the elements. I don't think it's a path that suits everyone, but it's the right one for me.

I'm all for whatever path that best puts individuals in touch with the Source (or God, if you prefer, as He or She is different things to different people). Friends of mine have included Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Jews, other Pagans, Wiccans, Buddhists, Hindus ... I'm sure I'm leaving some out, but it's early in the morning as I write this so bear with me.

It's good for people to bring up their children in a religious path, but also to encourage them to question. It's important for individuals to be able to find a balance between their spiritual life and day-to-day living, it's a very personal thing, and requires both compromise and dedication. I think also that people who really want this in their lives find the path that's right for them.

I don't like organised religion in general, but I do recognise the fact that all its various factions are spiritual guides for so many people, as people interpret the teachings in their own way, and this I have to respect as their personal choice.

(Gosh, this is heavy at 6.30 in the morning, but anyway.)

Jesus is the only way of salvation because He is the only One who can pay our sin penalty (Romans 6:23). No other religion teaches the depth or seriousness of sin and its consequences. No other religion offers the infinite payment of sin that only Jesus Christ could provide. No other “religious founder” was God become man (John 1:1,14) – the only way an infinite debt could be paid. Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our debt. Jesus had to be man so He could die. Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ! “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

The Spiritual Path that I am on as we speak, differs from all others, because of the changes that I have experienced within myself. When you can feel the old unnecessary things fall away and new wholesome growth within that is a sign that
you are on the right track, regarding ones spiritual growth.
Old tendencies are no longer needed. I searched for this for over 50 years and I thank God for allowing me the Grace to experience it.
And most importantly, there is "Only One God".......

My religion is the best, I am hear and didn't ask to be, and the UK is becoming like "Hell" if there is such a place, so if religion can cause so much carnage give me a planet without a "GOD"

Al-lah, Buddha, the Mormon "god", the Masonic "god", the JW's Jehovah are *not* the same as the Christian/Jewish God, the Creator of the Universe! I don't have a religion - I have a relationship with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

The Mormons and the Masons believe that Jesus, the Son of God and Lucifer are brothers! Yet none but the very highest initiates, like Mormon Temple indoctrinates and 34th Degree Masons are *really* aware of this satanic belief!

Yup, most of us believe in a God. But while religions overlap, they also contradict each other - and so they can't all be totally true. I think all religions have some truth in them, and all have some things that are not true. Some religions are closer to truth than other religions.
