This painful lump on your leg could be a bump ( papule) or a large lump (nodule) Other possible causes are abscess, allergic contact dermatitis, epocrine sweat gland cysts or maybe only bee, mosquitoes or hornet stings; or chiggers. Or it could only be some fatty tissue called lipoma or sebaceous cyst. It might also be a drug related or injection site reaction . Observe if it increases in size and if it's draining. But because it's painful and most likely inflammed, reddened and swollen, you should have it medically checked for possible biopsy. You might even have a tick imbedded in there. .

There are a number of things to know about this lump, including just how hard it is? Is it hard like a piece of bone, really solid, or is just firm and not compressible? When you squeeze the skin around it, does it look a bit dimpled? On close examination, is there a tiny pore on the top of it? is there an entry point ? Does it move around or is it fixed? Is it just under the skin or is it deep down?

Please don't worry about this - I do not think this is anything sinister - but it is always best to be sure. And if it is a lipoma, or a pilar or sebaceous cyst (another common possibility) and it is the size of a sprout, then you may be thinking, should I get rid of it? so your best recourse is to have a doctor check it out.

A lump that hurts, deserves proper exploration, and if possible, excision with a local anesthetic, and send it to the path lab, to get it properly analized.
It is impossible to make a proper diagnosis, or a serious one, based only on the symptoms...It could be literally anything....

I would see a doctor. I could be a blood clot.

go to the doctor, there might be something wrong with that.
if you don't get treated for that, it may be there forever.
