A person once said this quote, or something close to it. "Violence will not destory violence. Hate will not destroy hate. Only love can do that."

Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.
-- Martin Luther King Jr. ("Strength To Love" 1963)

Sorry to whoever thought it was Gandhi. It was really Martin Luther King, Junior.

Hate Cannot Drive Out Hate--ONLY Love Can Do That!

“The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you murder the hater, but you do not murder hate.
In fact, violence merely increases hate....
Returning violence for violence multiples violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

p.s. Gandhi said it because he was quoting MLK, Jr. If you check this, you will see.

it was more like

"Through violence you may murder the hater,
but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate...
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper
darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive
out hate; only love can do that." (Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.)

My favorite saying is "Yeah Right". My favorite quote is by Bill Clinton and is as follows "I did not have sexual relations with "that" woman"....That's still an awesome quote.

For future reference, you can just Google the whole quote (that's what I did). Google is usually smart enough to match it to something even if it's not exact.
