All the writers of the U.S. Bill of rights were raised with christian principles (weather they practised a religion or not). If they had been atheists would the world today look anything like it does, or more like the Roman Empire, or Nazi Germany?

Actually, several of them were raised as theists alone, having nothing to do with Christianity. And the Bill of Rights were not at all modeled after Christian principles, a fact which can be easily seen when a multitude of religious leaders defended slavery with passages from the Bible.

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make half the world fools and half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the world"- Thomas Jefferson

All the writers of the U.S. Bill of rights are anit-christ. If they were truly christian they would have not massacred the Natives of the Americas. The writers only wanted to fulfill their selfish greed and lust for power.
This anit-christ imagery is still alive today with the Iraq Invasion. The reason America is having trouble with the Iraq invasion and having economic chaos is simply because America is fighting against God's chosen people.
Many people of the Americas always say "Pray for our troops." If they were truly Christian they would "Pray for Peace."
Every aspect of American religions us nothing more than a satanic cult. The only possible exception would probably be the roman Catholic religion. Although, they have their flaws as well, it is not as bad as other religions in America.
Other religions in American care for nothing more than money. And according to the bible if you "worship" one(money) you cannot worship the other(GOD).

What's significant is that a very large number of the writers of the Bill of Rights had left their traditional religious upbringings, and had instead embraced a humanism in which "god" plays little or no part.
That they were able to do so at a time when those not "christian" were socially and politically scorned shows how courageous they truly were. They refused to establish their new country as a theocracy, and instead guaranteed freedom (as much *from* religion as *of* religion). Too bad our current president didn't learn anything useful from them :(

You owe a huge debt of gratitude to them for having the courage to toss off their own religious upbringing, and not make a theocratic nation. 'Cause even though they were raised christian, their particular christian sect was almost certainly nothing like yours -- had they forced a religion on their country, you wouldn't have the freedom to worship as you wish (or in my case, to *not* worship) that you do now.
Wise men indeed.

Peace.

js. It appears you are a very well informed individual. Most Americans have bought into the false notion, which began to be perpetrated on American students and in the classes around 1963. This is when the re-writing of American history began and it has indocrinated a whole generation of children, who have now become adults in power . They were taught a bogus history, that American was not founded on christian principles. One need only take a tour of the Washington DC area and read some of the quotations attributed to the founders of this country which their were put at places of remembrance, by those that personally knew them.

Uh...America is very similiar to the Roman Empire actually. And Nazi Germany did have a God, his name was "The State."

Maybe you should refer to the Christian Golden Age when asking such questions. To the rest of the world, that time was called the "Dark Ages."

By the way our founding fathers were completely deist in their beliefs, true enlightenment philosophes.

Regardless of what the Founding Fathers were brought up as, they were still a secular group that did not let religion influence the creation of this country at all. The Treaty of Tripoli clearly says "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion". This was signed by the 2nd President of the US and Founding Father, John Adams.

Hitler was a Christian.

The writers of the US Bill of Rights deliberately left out mention of Christianity, and many of them denounced Christianity.

I imagine if they had all been Atheists this country wouldn't have a lot of religious beliefs written into law and the country would actually be as those founding fathers intended.

What was your point again?

If it hadn't been for the intolerance of Christian Europe, then the first settlers of the Us would not have needed to come to America to practice their beliefs. If so many had not been persecuted because of their beliefs then they would have not realized the need for religious tolerance and separation of religion from the government. So I am thinking that you are correct the US would not be as it is today without Christianity
