If you are speaking as a salesmen looking for more personal traffic, I have found the best solution is to never stop selling. Talk about cars to all of your friends and family. Give out your card to the servers when you go out to eat. Hand out cards at the places you shop regularly, especially small stores, like liquor stores, gas stations, etc. Also don't be afraid to take out ads in small neighborhood papers, and school athletic programs. The more places you get your name seen, the more people will come in looking for you. Selling cars is like anything else, people want to do business with someone they know by name and a face they trust.

Treat your customers better than the competition and the word will get around. It'll take some time but word-of-mouth is a very effective marketing technique.

Offer the lowest prices, the least hassle and don't load the cars with unwanted dealer options. You'll get my business.

Don't be like every other car guy trying to sell his stupid commercials on TV. People just get annoyed, and they do not want to get yelled at by their TV. Get a professional to make your commercials, and offer some interesting stats on your cars. No one does that, and they should.
