None before the Romans. It didn't exist as a seperate religion from Judaism until Emperor Constantine made it the state religion around 400 A.D.

The Roman Empire was the first one, and Christianity was declared the offcial religion of the state by the Emperor Constantine, who was a pagan at that time.

I heard it was Armenia too. They were also one of the first to translate the Bible into the vernacular. There's a beautiful edition of its illustrations called THE BIBLE IN THE ARMENIAN TRADITION ISBN 0712346988.
