One of my teeth got abscess and I needed penicillen. I went to the pharmacy and bought 20 pills for 50 cents USD in SE Asia. So, now, I'm back in the USA and I am having problems with another tooth. Not having medical coverage and being in severe pain I went to the emergency room to get a penicillen pescript written. When all was said and done it cost me $725 dollars, and thats not even seeing the dentist yet... WOW! Comments?

Penicillin is a fairly inexpensive antibiotic. The reason why it cost so much is because you went to the emergency room. Antibiotics should not be OTC because of public health concerns. Antibiotic resistance is a big deal, and people tend to not take their medications correctly.
