For example, I was born into a fundamentalist, evangelical Christian denomination. I'm the eldest of 4, and all of us have Bible names. Mine happens to be Timothy James which means "honoring God" "supplanter"

Now I don't honor God at all. I don't actually believe in him. So, if I'm wrong, does he have it in for me more?

Not worried he actually exists.. This is what's known as a rhetorical question. I'm trying to understand how you guys think. I've been an atheist for 30 years, I'm kind of settled into it.

LOL. There is no special punishment for atheists with Biblical names. God's acceptance of you in not based on what your parents did or did not name you. You have free access to Him whenever you choose and you are free not to make that choice also. He gave His life so you might live, but it is up to you....always.

BTW, I love your name and its meaning.

Blessings.

I don't know if the deity has it in for you more but it is ironic :o)

I think most people choose names without knowing their actual meaning and they do so to make it flow better with the given surname more than anything else. Interestingly enough because of that I was named after a pop culture song with a first name that is Greek in origin and my brother ended up with the biblical name and I'm not religious and he is extremely religious.

You sound like you're worried that you made a wrong choice about being an atheist. If you're not sure, maybe you should go back to practicing christianity. If you're sure, there's no worry.

If you do find yourself in front of a judgmental god, you can always say that you didn't pick the name, your parents did.

Okay, even if you are an atheist who turns out to be wrong, you didn't choose your own name. It's not like you legally changed your name to "Jesus" and then went around murduring babies in his name or something. I wouldn't worry about it. You sound a little doubtful about your unbelief, though.

If you don't believe in God, it must follow that God will not punish you, whatever your name may be.

If you believe that you will be punished by God for not believing in God, you are confused.

No, I don't think there is any "10th Level of Hell" - to quote Dante, for people who have Christians names and don't follow god.

He will change your name to Phleblebia and you will be forced to tell everyone your new name for all of eternity.

I suppose if people ask you about the origin of your name, you have to explain that it's from the Bible. Not much punishment though.

I feel bad for your mom; anyway, when
Christ returns, you will honor him, like it or not. You will kneel to Him, and you will worship Him. What your mom failed to do was give you what you really need: a good swift kick in the ***.
