We are defined by what we do and we should postpone our judgment of people until we know what he or she will do in a real situation, not based on the things they say, or the way they sound or look.

what I do now affects my development (who I become) as much as who I am now affects my choice of what to do now. If I'd made different choices as a kid, I'd be a different person now, but the choices I made were strongly affected by who I was then.

I can't judge you based on what you're doing unless or until I can fully understand not only what I can see and feel as a result of your action, but also what made you take that particular action. If I don't know what was going on in your mind and around you when you made your choice, and I try to guess your future actions based on this one, then I'm probably going to guess incorrectly.
