I've been a restorative dentist and clinical instructor for 22 years now and can tell you with certainty that you do NOT need to spend $50,000.00 to restore your mouth. Get a second, third, even fourth opinion!! Find a dentist in a less expensive part of town. Ask about other options. (i.e. bridgework versus implants, partial denture versus bridgework, etc.)

Going to a clinic associated with a dental school or accredited residency (hospital based) program will mean lower prices for the dental work but will also mean taking a much longer time to complete treatment. It is for that reason that I recommend you find a dentist in private practice other than the one who recommended such expensive treatment.

I would love to know what city you are in and what treatment plan was presented to you.

I feel your pain. Over the last two years, I've had dental implants on my 4 front teeth. Tonight I'm getting my other two put in. It ran me about $12000.00 for all four. Probably between 10-12 grand. That's because I had a bridge which went bad too after 13 years. When I decided on Implants, I asked around and priced around. Depending on where you live, you can get them for 1500 or less. Mine were 1350. for the implants. $800.00 for the teeth.

Look for a dentist that participates with an intrest free loan program which is based on your credit of course, usually intrest free for six months to one year if that will help. Most offices will not do in house payment plans. Carecredit is a typical popular one for most dentists. If you cannot afford to save your teeth, dentures and partials are more economical but its nothing like your own teeth. I would personallly get a second opinion from another DDS, sometimes they may have different ideas that are more affordable. good luck :)

my teeth were destroyed by a medication I was taking and I was told it would cost 40 grand to fix them! I dont have that kind of money or insurance. The dentist pulled 10 of my top teeth and put in a top denture for 5 grand. Now my mouth hurts like hell, but my smile is perfect and I look great now

Oh - I am there with you!! See if you can find a dental school in your area. They will charge you a lot less and may do a better job because an instructor will be going through everything step by step. Good luck - having bad teeth sucks - I know!

Mexico. Same diplomas, same equipment, but not the same price. South Texans take advantage of proximity to the border and are satisfied with the quality and service of Mexican dentists, opthamologists, and specialized medical procedures such as plastic surgery.

If there is a University in your city, they may have a dental school, that does low-cost dental work.
