act so sure about what they say. The one thing they ask Christians to prove they can't disprove. Many have tried and during their research, have turned Christian. Yet, we hear from people who haven't done any research. They just blurt out accusations

....that is just propaganda from the church.

Wrong I came up with this when I started reading Atheits post on Yahoo and how cruel the can be. My point here has already been made. I have been cussed out by atheists put down even though no one here knows me. That is my point. I mention the words Jesus loves you and I get reported as abuse. Yeah not too much a fair fight. So, everytime I see something on here atheist's write that offends me! I will just report it as abuse.

Good question, and good point.

And, actually, the answer is in the question: "we hear from people who haven't done any research. They just blurt out accusations"

People of this sort do not want to think -- It's too stressful and too much work. Throwing accusations and implications is much easier and far more comfortable.

You're right, too, that they can't seem to disprove it...

Of course, disproving reality always was such a bother.

Good question....

Most dont act so sure, they are so sure about what they say. They have no doubt that the path they have chosen is the correct one. The one thing they ask every person who believes in ANY god to prove they can disprove with logic, and a little bit of science...I have never met an Christian who was Atheist, or agnostic for that mater, who have "turned christian" because of research they have done. I would say its a safe bet that a good majority of these Atheists have done more research and searching than you give credit too them doing....They are in true harmony with themselves, they are no longer searching for that completeness one gets with religion...

I can see your frustration in this matter, I suggest you go your own spiritual path, and let others choose for themselves...

Are you insane? Do you just make up these things on the spot? I have known many people who have either turned away from Christianity to another religion or agnosticism, but I have never personally known a fellow atheist to change to Christianity. Other religions, sure, but not Christianity. As for research, why don't you research the correlation with religion and intelligence. It seems that the higher a person's intelligence, the less likely he or she is to believe in god. As for disproving your god, I have done so numerous times. You claim god is all-powerful, so I ask this simple question: can your god create a mountain so large that he cannot destroy it? If you say yes, he can't destroy something, so he isn't all-powerful. If you say no, he can't create something, so he isn't all-powerful. I just used elementary school logic to disprove your all-powerful god. Time to move on. Good luck to you.

Religious people are making a positive statement about an unproven concept. Belief in God requires faith. For most atheists their own view is the default position.

Bertrand Russell used the example of the celestial teapot, Sagan uses the Dragon in your garage example, and there is also the Invisable Pink Unicorn.

A all powerful and all knowing god is a contradiction. Who are these many you speak of??? ....that is just propaganda from the church. When I had my catholic class on Saturdays at church the nun told me Albert Einstein was believer later in life.(a pure implication that he was also a Catholic) Of course that was a bold face lie. He was Agnostic and strongly opposed the idea of a personal God.

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms." [Albert Einstein, obituary in New York Times, 19 April 1955]

Every Church is build on lies and fables. They steal there holidays and ideas from pagan religions and then claim there God is the one true. It makes me sick that these lies are perpetuated by the majority of society. Sure I cant prove there is no God.( invisible pink unicorn is something i cant disprove as well) I can prove your idea of him is absurd.

Actually, I can disprove it.

A necessary consequence of theism is missing in this universe. Since the necessary consequence is missing, the cause is missing as well. This is standard modus tollens.

Only deism and atheism remain viable.

I'd also hardly consider 20+ complete cover to cover readings of the Bible, 12 of them prayerful and in full faith, to be lack of research. Add to that the BS in computer science, the BA in psychology, being only a few courses away from a BA in Biblical Studies, a complete reading of the Summa Theologicae, "The Confessions" of St. Augustine, etc.

Research? Research is what made me an atheist in the first place. I didn't WANT to be an atheist -- I started my research to BUILD my faith, not destroy it.

Just because one cannot disprove something, does not automatically mean that its a fact. And by the way, I've also known and heard of many people who, during their research, turned from a christian to an atheist. So, it goes both ways.

And Christians aren't "so sure about what they say"? Do you believe that all Christians have thoroughly researched and vetted their beliefs? I see lots of people like you who constantly criticise Atheists, and then you wonder why Atheists go and criticise you. How about both sides just mind their own business and let everyone else believe what they believe.

I've studied Christianity, and other religions, to include Islam for YEARS. I've studied science, philosophy, logic, etc. and instead of "turning Christian" I'm atheist and Buddhist with Shamanic tendencies, because the whole idea of some omnipotent creator being makes no logical sense. I don't "blurt" accusations, nor do I make blanket commentaries like you're making.

Personally I don't know too many atheists who have gone to or back to christianity.

There is no proof of your deities existence, there is not proof it does not exist and I will not acknowledge it without empirical proof that it is an actual entity and not a fairytale. I find my time is better spent doing things for my fellow human beings than on something that is just an unknown.
