The simple answer is "Calculus" - typically ME Techs don't get the heavy math that ME's do. If you already have a ME Tech degree, then you'll probably have to retake physics, possibly chemistry, and - depending on the school - thermodynamics and heat transfer. And possibly a lot more. I switched at the associates level & had to take an extra year.

I believe that you would have to go to school and get yourself a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Maybe you could work part time and go to school part time or nights to get your degree. Maybe your employer would pay for your courses and books??
