What I usually do is make a list of things I need to do on a daily basis b4 I start my studying, such as light chores, checking my mail, etc. Just get these out of the way then get a nice quiet place, have books, paper, lap top, etc. readily available and get started. No music, tv, etc. these are very distracting, and contrary to popular belief, you do more learning without any unnecessary distractions and noise.

I hope this is not a last minute question.
The most effective way I found to study was to pay attention in class, take notes and not be afraid to ask questions.
Also, keep up with your reading. If you do this on a daily basis, test time will not be difficult as all you need to do is review instead of learn the material.
