ahhh great question
what has the army done for me?
#1 made me become a man
#2 gave me some of the best training, one could ever have
leadership, discipline, honor
#3 let me see the world
Europe, Asia, the middle east, Australia just to name a few
#4 22 years of free medical care, housing, food allowance
#5 at 42 I collect a retirement check every month
#6 veterans preference helps secure my current job (police officer)
So I can truly say the army treated me very very well

The greatest gift the Army has given me is the chance to go out and make a difference.
I have provided relief after an earthquake.
I have helped rescue people from flood waters.
I have helped liberate a nation.
I have mentored a high-school dropout whose father was in prison - and several years later saw him listed as part of the graduating class from West Point.
I have been part of history.
I am now retired - but with several lifetimes worth of memories.

The Army has given me a pretty good job for the past ten years. They have given me health insurance for the same amount of time. They have taught me valuable skills in the medical field. They have given me a retirement account that I can choose to put money into. The allow me to shop at stores where I do not have to pay a sales tax. They have paid me to visit over ten countries, the both East and West coasts of the US and the Midwest. They have paid for over 66 credit hours of my college education so far. So far the Army has been pretty good to me.

What has it done to you, the military, Army Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reserve forces of all branches of all forces have given you your freedoms throughout the years and will continue to do that for years to come. You should be thanking them every chance you get for allowing you to voice your opinion on a forum like this and not be sent to the Gulag for talking crap

Free, paid trip to Europe for 3 years, a college plan that only cost me $1,200 to pay into, an action-packed and exciting 3 years of my life that went way too fast, an opportunity to be part of my nation's foreign policy, and do many things I would never have been able to do as a civilian like fire a live missile as an artillery gunner or do airmobile missions behind enemy lines, etc.
What other job pays you to have the time of your life??

I wanted to concur with the good replies here ... the Army has been good to me, except where my Career Counselor screwed up my paperwork at MEPS and as a result had me sent to the wrong Division ... which I've gotten over.
What I really wanted to say was:
GO ARMY SINK NAVY
Thank you.

I got training as a policeman and money to finish my education.
Oh, yes, I also got a free trip to Europe, and the opportunity to play in the mud.
