Please hear me out: I'm a huge Smoke fan, and I am also an honest fan. We all know that Tony can have a temper, and he says what is on his mind. To me, that's totally fine. I like his fire, and I look foward to hear what he has to say about things. However, I do oppose extremely bad language or something like that. Other than that, whatever drivers have to say is something I want to hear, no matter what.
Now, what is NASCAR doing? Tony Stewart is getting WAY too much attention these days. The man hasn't done something absolutely out of control...he's just frustrated about not winning! He's mad about about silly cautions for no reason, too! Wouldn't ANY driver? Why does NASCAR make all the drivers into the same person who can't speak their mind? I mean, on TV I've seen outraged people about what Tony said about caution flags! That is insane! What are they doing to the sport? It's going to be really boring really fast if they keep this up. I'm tired of it...

Good point to the last person who answered.
*EDIT* I don't mind the usual swears, but extremely profane swears are not acceptable to me. There is a bit of a hierarchy.

You are accurate in your points you raised, MissCherrios2.
Yes, Tony Stewart does have a temper, and yes he is frustrated this year, seeing Gordon and Johnson winning so often. Tony has had some bad luck with wrecks, and he is still upset he did not make the Chase last year.
Tony Stewart said what many broadcasters, writers and fans have been saying about the "debris cautions". Nobody likes these "debris cautions" and Stewart only brought up the same thing most of us have been saying. He probably deserved to get whacked by NASCAR the way he did it--he should have talked to them in private about the problem.
Stewart is a talented driver and has a great personality. He does Home Depot proud. I like him and respect him, even if he is not my favorite.
Tony Stewart will enjoy future success, and he should be in the winners circle a time or two this year.
I just wish Tony would race in the Indy 500 again!

What I'm having a real problem with is why would any real racer complain about having to race someone for a win?
When a driver has a big lead and a caution comes out, the leader and his fans are usually the only ones that hated to see the flag come out. God forbid that a racecar driver might have to race. Come on, let's have some fun.
Personally, I wouldn't care if every debris caution was bogus. I never have, as nothing is worse than watching a driver just run away with it. F1 gives me more than enough of that bull.
Even if Earnhardt had a big lead at the caution, any disappointment I may have had about it was overpowered by the excitement of getting to see Dale race for a win, which he loved to do. Even if he lost, he put on a great show for the fans.
If Earnhardt thought NASCAR was cheating with the cautions he would have parked it and quietly told NASCAR to kiss his a**. He would have done something about it without running his mouth in public.
Tony probably apologized because he was threatened with a lawsuit for the slander. His demeanor following the meeting was of a person who realized he just dodged a bullet. The word "meek" comes to mind. Slander is not protected speech, it's against the law. To slander your benefactor is just plain dumb.
If NASCAR is cheating then Tony has been complicit as I have never seen him fail to use the debris cautions to his advantage, when it suits him and he has rarely missed an opportunity to complain about it when it doesn't suit him.
If all the drivers feel like NASCAR is cheating by deliberately bunching the field, then on a debris caution, just maintain your interval, DO NOT COMPLY if you want any credibility on this matter.
Maintain the gap or shut your trap.
If drivers didn't want debris cautions, then why are they always throwing stuff out of the car?
As far as debris on the track, just how big does a small piece of debris have to be to cause disaster? Something the size of a dime can puncture a tire ya know. Just because no debris can be located everytime does not mean that it wasn't in the racing groove at all. It can be blown around, picked up and thrown well clear of the groove by the cars before the caution waves. If a NASCAR spotter sees something, they are obligated to check it out.

Tony is his own worst enemy, he even said this friday during the interview after his meeting with nascar. I think Tony really screwed up when he compared nascar to WWF wrestling. There has been scrutiny the last few years about it being fixed, and it finally had quietened down until Tony goes off again because he didn't win. Tony is getting the attention because he's the top story right now.
Why are you surprised at the attention he is getting? he's getting it because he's wanting it, otherwise he would think before saying stupid things like nascar hasn't had a fair race yet. Yes, I get frustrated at the debris cautions, especially when the tv crew can't even find the piece of debris on the track. But I don't think there is a guy saying ........... "throw the caution, such and such has a big lead and lets make this race a little more interesting.......
speaking your mind is one thing........comparing nascar to wwf wrestling is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If he really thinks that, then why is he racing? He's just frustrated because he's had a strong car in most of the races, but can't catch a break or win a race.
I never cared for him until I went to an RC Sprint car event up in Pennsylvania that he sponsored. He raced in about every class and talked to everyone like a normal guy. I gained alot of respect for him then. I don't pull for him during a race, but I don't root against him like I used to. lol

Tony has a slightly volatile personality. He also is not afraid to speak his mind. In sports, the people that run the show believe they are the only ones that should have an opinion and the participants should never disagree with them. It is the same in all sports. Players and coaches being fined or suspended for disagreeing with an official or the league office. I think Nascar secretly wants to see Stewart really let loose with a tirade. It brings attention to the sport and people like the passionate athlete.

Now that NASCAR has fined Tony for speaking the truth - and he rightfully deserves the fine - now NASCAR should explain what they are going to do about debris, especially stuff that comes out the drivers window, or that seems to fall off just before a car is about to be lapped.

I agree to one thing Tony is a easy target. He is walking on eggshells right now and has to be very carefull to what he says or does. I also agree that the drivers should be able to express their opions, about fixing the problems, not creating the problems. Critizing the Officials ain't going to get them drivers now where, but a fine and probation, like Tony is in.

Unfortunately for tony his antics in the past are what makes him an easy target. But I do think to some degree professional athletes should have the right to give their opinions. I also think that the people who are in charge of monitoring things like that should cut people some slack athletes are humans too and make mistakes. like when Jr cursed on T.V. and they docked him points for it. That was very ridiculous, weather it was Jr or any other driver. It was an honest mistake

Rusty Wallace,Darrell Waltrip,Darrell Derringer,Curtis Turner,Junior Johnson,Dale Earnhardt Senior,Tony Stewart all had /have one thing in common other than being drivers. They all voiced their opinion and were censored by NASCAR.
Tony is voicing about what he sees as a problem but some one is turning a blind eye and deaf ear to it.
Go Tony
