I think it's funny that no one has bothered to look at your Q&A before declaring you a christian or a troll... ;)

1) religion section is one level up from many subsections, i jumped onto this question from the lesbian/gay/bisexual forums.

2) atheism in itself is a method of spirituality, it's basically a godless religion if you think about it.

3) i've never slept with a prositute or taken drugs, so i'm not allowed to have an opinion on them? same applies here (even though to be fair i grew up thinking i was christian).

4) in order to get a balanced argument, and arrive at the correct conclusion, the spirit of debate must be upheld, and thusly both opposing sides of the argument must be represented fairly. we're doing you a favour, by challenging views in a different way to you do, we help you to arrive at the correct conclusion by forcing reasoning and logic, in a regular debate anyway, not sure that applies 100% to R&S ( but at least a little bit it does)

5) it's an open forum

6) i find the subject interesting

is that enough?

Simple. Strong atheism is a religion, so strong atheists such as myself have the same right to come here as you do. Before you blow a gasket, try using a dictionary. If you look up religion on Merriam-Webster's online dictionary, you will find that religion can be defined as nothing more than a belief followed with faith, and faith can defined as believing in something for which there is no proof. I believe (have faith) that there is no god. Atheism is my religion, even if you and other atheists refuse to acknowledge it as such. Now, please quit acting like a Nazi; it's unattractive.

Because:
- It's a free forum open to everyone.
- They are non-religious (The opposite of religion) so they come here to discuss their non-beliefs.
- You should write the word "Atheist" with a capital A. Show some respect.

To help the Christians exersize their brains.

We should all be able to properly respond to their questions. Without hostility. We should treat each and every one of them with kindness and gratitude for the chance to evangelize.

Think about it. Every question they ask is a chance! An opportunity. If certain people responding would just drop the hostility and recriminations.

I'm atheist and can only speak on behalf of myself. I don't come to this section intentionally, if I see a question that interests me on the main page then I click on it. I typically don't bash religious people either- unless they start it first. I have respect for people who are religious, but you have to respect my beliefs before I respect yours. As for the ones who come to the religion section intentionally to be dumb, I can't make up excuses for them, but I apologize on their behalf.

First off, its "Religion and Spirituality", not just
"Religion".

Secondly, I'm hetersexual, but frequently read
the gay/lesbian/transgendered section. It interests me.

Thirdly, religion is a dominant force, at least in the US.
Even if you completely disagree with it, you need to
understand it and curb it when it gets out of hand.

To get drunk this afternoon it would seem.

Atheists on here have provided some of the more thoughtful, intelligent, informed answers on a variety of subjects, including Christianity. As such they are a welcome addition to the R&S forum.

Why do they get married or wear clothes, since a lot of these things have a basis in Biblical history. Hopefully, they are searching for truth.
