When were us English folk ever asked if we wanted to live in a multicultural society? Was there ever a referendum over mass immigration? Did the Labour Party´s 1997 manifesto clearly state that they were going to open our borders to millions of people?
Why is anybody who asks questions like mine, labelled a racist or some other such term in order to stifle debate? Will this all end in tears, like Yugoslavia?

Your thoughts, folks?

People have been coming to this country for literally hundreds of years. We are almost all descendants of these people. In more recent years immigration was largely instigated by a law passed (I believe in 1953) which gave citizens of common wealth countries rights, one of which was to come and live here. There never was, never will be and never should be a referendum on immigration. Our borders are controlled already with citizens of the EU having the right to come here to work.

In short, we are not and never will be opening our borders to millions of people as you put it.

Most people in this country, including me, welcome people with open arms. We are a wealthy, tolerant, liberal nation and long may it remain the case.

I suspect the reason people such as yourself are labelled racist is because they generally are. However I'm still happy to debate with you.

In case you're interested I have one English parent and one Irish and have lived in both countries. Does that mean I'm welcome?

definite. Multiculturalism works in usa. I eat pizzia on Saint Patty's Day each year and wash all of it down with German beer. Irish, Italians, Germans, and so forth., all USED TO stay in segregated communities, yet no longer do. Assimilation is a technique. it incredibly is people who think of as you are attempting this make it a sluggish technique. an fairly un-American view, you have. pass returned to the rustic of your origins, except your an American Indian. Very digusting question.

Were the Spaniards ever consulted about the hordes of red faced alcoholic fat middle aged Brits who have descended on their coastal towns and taking all the water for their golf courses ? They refuse to learn Spanish and behave very badly. Were the Thais ever consulted about the single white men who prey on the little girls in Bangkok ? I've travelled a bit so could give more examples, but you catch my drift.

It's to do with international travel and our freedom to choose where we live. All of us. Including you. And I too can trace my family back in England over a thousand years. So what ? It does not make me better than anyone else, or give me more right on any particular patch of earth.

No the Goverment will never ask the people of this country to vote on such an issue, why ?because they know the vast majority will say no despite what some middle class people who have already answered say the largest number of voters come from the working classes we're the ones who have to suffer lower wages in order to compete with immigrants while the middle classes get richer at our expense and tell us we should be glad that we get to experience mulitculturalism.

No, we will not end of like Yugoslavia, but it will change the landscape of our country. It you doubt my words just visit Miami, for better or worst this is the new face of American, coming to a city near you soon, if we grant amnesty

Multiculturalism has a lot going for it, Plenty of cheap labour keeping down wage's Housing shortage's making it hard to afford a mortgage, but if your a landlord you can charge sky high rents. Plus the chance for foreign wars to be fought on our streets, many unreported by our liberal press, all in the interest of racial harmony of course. And of course £12,000 the cost of settling an asylum seeker here legitimate or not, if we are really lucky chance for lawyers to get rich to. To all you so called Liberals out there I am not a racist, but when i have to pay for an operation for my mother, because my Taxes are being squandered elsewhere I think the above question is legitimate and deserves an answer not abuse

You DO live in a multicultural society. Other cultures continue to exist regardless of what you want.

If you're fine with them so long as you never have to deal with them personally, then you have to ask yourself one or two questions about why you have this attitude.

Multiculturalism isn't the problem, it is Political Correctness that is, I can get along fine with anyone as long as I can treat as I find. So if I find a complete prat then I want to be able to treat them as such with out reference to skin, ethnic or religious persuasion. That is the problem.

Oh daear- it seems you excaped from Blairs Room 101 from the Ministry of Truth.

Is Orwell off the reading list of PC Secondary Education yet- to be replaced by something the Leftists approve of like Idi Amin's "Me: Memoirs of a Loony and Leftist Wet-dream"?

I belive it gradually will end in tears if it continues at this rate- I would give it another decade for it to be critical in the violently antagonistic sense.

Perhaps the Leftists forget London being looted and burnt by Livingstone's darling "peace-loving pigmented types". Brixton, Bradford, Southall, Lyon, Paris, Leicester, York- how many riots does it take for the PC Morons to realise oil and water never mix?

Colonisation / slavery - were WE ever consulted???

and by the way, in response to your comments in other posts about slavery being Africans fault (cos we apparently sold our people into slavery) what about all the carnage Europeans caused in Australia (killing the aborigines), and Asia and america (native indians)?

whats your excuse there?
