No, Jeff Gordon will always be "wonder boy" or "Rainbow Warrior". Jeff is and always will be Jeff. Sr. was the "Man in Black" , or "The Intimidator". Sr will be Sr. What Sr. has done for NASCAR in his 22 years of being in the sport is nothing that Gordon could touch. Sr. is the best, he raced against the best D.W., Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin, the Allisons, and even Gordon, among others. He also raced when the rules were less strict and safety wasn't as much of an issue, back in those days you had to be a real tough guys to drive, but now days any little sissy pansy can drive a NASCAR. Now days it seems Jeff really is in a class of his own with really no one to challenge him, unlike back when Sr drove, he had a lot of tough competitors that were always challenging him, yet he got his 76 wins and 7 championships in a lot harder way than Jeff has gotten his 77 wins and 4 championships. Sr had to work his way up and prevail over various obstacles in NASCAR before he was even with RCR, Jeff on the other hand, it seems he was just handed the good team and all on a plate, almost like he didn't have to work for nothing. The 80's into the mid-90's were the best years of NASCAR in my opinion.

No one will ever take the place of Dale Earnhardt, not even Dale Jr. I was not a fan of Dale Sr.'s but I am a fan of Jeff Gordon. I don't see any comparison with the two. Dale Sr. was a great driver, he was somewhat of a dirty driver (which is why he was called the "Intimidator".) He knew what needed to be done to ruffle other drivers' feathers and win. Jeff is a far better driver than Dale Sr. This is his year to win. GO #24!

No, There will never be another Dale Earnhardt. Different driving styles, different rules, different championship points, different cars, different competitors talent, different fans.

As a Jeff Gordon fan, I hate when people compare the two. Its stupid and idiotic, just like you saying you hope Jeff ends up biting the big one. You prolly through your beer at the tv when Jeff won sunday too. I hope you broke your tv and the can came back and hit square between the eyes.

Numbers to compare...make up your own minds:

Years in Nascar: Earnhardt - 27, Gordon 16
Total Races: Earhardt 676, Gordon - 452
Wins: Earnhardt 76, Gordon 77
Top 5's: Earnhardt 281, Gordon 220
Top 10's: Earnhardt 428, Gordon 295
Poles: Earnhardt - 22, Gordon 60
Laps: Earnhardt - 202888, Gordon - 138896
Laps Led: Earnhardt - 25707, Gordon - 18702
Championships: Earnhardt - 7, Gordon: 4

By average, Gordon has surpassed Earnhardt in almost every gategory in less time.

They both reached 4 championships by their 11th season in cup racing, and Gordon still has 11 more years to race to match Earnhardt's total years in cup.

He will never be Big E,because Gordon is Superman. He flys to the front without wrecking everyone on the way!Dale.Sr is the 6th or 7th best driver ever, but Jeff is about 3rd or 4th right now.Dale & Jeff are Great in their own ways, but Gordon doesn't have to be Earnhardt to be the best.To be the King you must beat the King!

As far as racing talent, Jeff Gordon is as good, if not better, than Dale Earnhardt. However, he has definitly been the benfactor of a great race team. That has helped him to be the great racer he is. As much as I like JG, he will never be as popular as Dale Earnhardt and this will hurt his history when they write it.

No.
Earnhardt was not compaired to or made out as the nexr Yarborough,Allison or Waltrip. He was the best for hif era.
Someday some hot shot will come around and beat Gordons numbers. So for now Gordon is the best in his era.
