Are the calculus classes ever really used in the work force?

I heard that the classes are just classes to weed the real engineers out and scare the other ones off, is this true?

I use some form of calculus regularly, in my work as an electrical engineer.

Laplace Transforms,
Z-transforms
Solutions to Poisson equations (been using that alot lately).
