OK this one is difficult to answer because you'll get so many. My mom is a cafeteria catholic, and she is now a full Catholic but at the time, she wasn't. But any who. She found that she was closer to god in black foot mountains in SD, than in a church, but she did find a priest that did wed her and my step-father. If you find a stick priest he will more than likely not marry you outside of a Church, but since they see it as money and we all know how Catholic Church's are, they will do it, no matter where it is. Now don't let anyone tell you different. this is your wedding do what you want to do. This is your special day, you will find some one, don't give up. I am a catholic myself and i understand what you are going threw.

Many - maybe even most - Catholic Churches want you to get married IN the church. They believe this gives sanctity to the marriage.

However, the canon law that stipulates where a couple can or can't be married does not say a couple can't be married outside.

Your very own church may be open to the idea. Then again, you may have to search for one that is.

It may be that you can. You need to talk to your priest. Some local bishops may allow it.

Also, you do not need to have a mass to have a Catholic ceremony. But if you are both Catholic you should want to receive Eucharist together.

Marriage is a Sacrament, and the proper place for the celebration of a Sacrament is in a Church. While it may seem romantic or 'being in God's creation'...it really takes God out of the ceremony by denying him the proper worship.
