I think you might be getting the ozone layer mixed up with global warming.
Two or three decades ago we were destroying the ozone layer and caused what became known as the 'hole in the ozone layer' - it wasn't so much a hole but more of a thinning. This was caused largely by CFC's (chloroflourocarbons) which were present in aerosols, refridgerators, fire supressants, industrial processes etc. Governments around the world banned CFC's and since then the ozone layer has begun to repair itself.
For the time being at least the ozone layer seems to be safe but a bigger concern is global warming. This is something different and is caused by a build up of Greenhouse Gases which create a sort of blanket around the earth and trap heat in.
A lot of human activities produce greenhouse gases and levels are rising quite fast, the more the levels rise the warmer the planet becomes.
The main causes of greenhouse gases come from the burning of 'fossil fuels' - coal, oil and gas, these are used in large quantities in transportation and generating electricity. Another large source of greenhouse gases is farming and agriculture.
There's lots of things that people can do and some simple things are to reduce the amount of energy you use by turning things off when they're not being used, switching to energy efficient lightbulbs, recycling, turning the heating or air conditioning down a little. I've put together some more ideas on a website here - http://profend.com/global-warming/pages/combat.html

I study a million/2 of the solutions and became shocked how ill-reported people who're offering solutions are. Addressing the ozone layer - ruin down of the ozone layer is by way of gases utilized in refrigeration and aircon by human beings, examples R12 and R22. those 2 refrigerants at the instant are not any extra produced yet nonetheless in use. i could say that using those is very much decreased and that they are on the way out being replaced by Ozone friendly refrigerants like R134a and R410. as a effect the Ozone layer will get well in time. scuffling with international warming demands a transformation in fuels used for production of electrical energy and transportation. that is going to require government action which isn't happening a minimum of interior the U. S.. right here selection power desires to be pushed forward and that may no longer happening. some fools even reported the ice isn't melting or no longer on the cost reported. undesirable learn on their area.

In the Arctic and Antarctic region there are massive ozone holes in the upper atmosphere which are from CFC's in aerosol cans. Fortunately Companies stopped putting CFC's into their products, so the ozone hole has shrunk. However, the lower ozone layer is thickening because of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide. This is causing Global warming. A unique way to stop this is to lobby a local politician to stop the release of methane gas (which is over 200 times more powerful than CO2) from the city dump. The methane can be captured and turned into electricty for the residents of the city.

what most people don't consider is that over 75% of the the gases that are "depleting the ozone" are from plant decay it other words you cant stop over 75% of the problem if there really is a problem. this is nature and nature takes it's course. there are as many scientist that say there isn't a problem as there are that say there is. I cant see a diff. in 40 year of life and if you look back in time you'll see that there are cycles to this. nature takes care of it's self. don't just jump on a band wagon just because it sounds politically correct.

consume less of whatever we are consuming like less oil, power, food, air conditioning ad heating, less travel, eat less.increase usage of renewable resources like water ways, wind, solar, tidal, geothermal energy.reduce/stop using chemicals that produce ozone depleting gases.
