Jesus said he must go so the “comforter” or “praised one” can come who will tell all things which the apostles were not yet ready for.
The comforter would bring a final law and final book that would make all things clear.
He would be a Man not a spirit and everyone was waiting for this Great Prophet from the time of Moses.
The Holy Spirit had already come as a Dove so obviously Jesus was not talking about the Holy Spirit. He was talking about a Messenger who would come after him, one who would explain all the things and telling of more things to come.
Jesus was the “Messiah of the Jews” but he was not the “comforter” or “Prophet like unto Moses”.
That is why they asked John the Baptist whether he was "that Prophet" , whom everyone was waiting for……and he said “no”.
Only until recently, have bible interpretors thought the comforter was the Holy Spirit.
If they accept the idea of the comforter being a human (as everyone else used to) then they would have a very hard time denying Mohammed as a possible fulfillment of this prophecy.
The bible informed us that "The comforter","Last Prophet" or "Law Giver" who would make "all things known" and who "would reprove the world of sin with a new Law" was to come from the "brethren" of the Israelites.
Moses replied : "And the Lord said onto me, they have well spoken that which they have spoken, I will raise them up a Prophet from among ‘their brethren’, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him." (Deuteronomy 18:17-18)
The Bible refers to the Ismaelites (Arabs) as the Brethren of the Israelites (e.g. Gen. 16:12 & Gen. 25:18).
------
This Final Prophet will come as Isaiah predicted ………. From the land of Kedar (Arabia) and from the branch of Jesse (Ishmael)
“And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out his roots. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge, and of the fear of the Lord.”--- Isaiah 11:1-2
The Quran calls the Angel of Revelation (Angel Gabriel) the Ruhool Qudoos “Holy Spirit” who is sent down to “strengthen” the Prophets.
According to Encyclopedia Biblica, we read: “Jesse is contracted from Ishmael”. (Cheyene , Encyclopedia Biblica under “names”)
-------------
Isaiah tells of the Prophecies of a “Servant of God” who will come from the land of Kedar with a divine Law and he will be victorious over his enemies in battles.
He will bring a new law and message in a new tongue(language) and the villages of Kedar will sing the praises from the mountain tops.....
“Sing unto the Lord a new song , and his praise from the end of the earth…” (V.10)
“another tongue” (Isaiah 28:11)
Let the desert and its towns lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the inhabitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the tops of the mountains. 12 Let them give glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastlands. --- (Isaiah 42:11).
Ishmael dwelt in the wilderness of “Paran”(Gen.21:21) He beget twelve sons one of whom was named “Kedar”. (Gen.25:13)
------------------
******** The reason Muslims use the bible to prove several points is because it is mentioned in the Quran that Allah sent down glad tidings of the Last Prophet to come in the Torah and Injeel (bible)
HOLY QURAN : 007.157 "Those who follow the messenger, the unlettered Prophet, whom they find mentioned in their own (scriptures),- in the Torah and the Injeel (Gospel);- for he commands them what is just and forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure); He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper."

The problem with your treatise is this: The Scripture says who the Comforter is.
As it is written: "But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." (John 14:26)

Go to chick.com and go to the section on the Islamic faith. The book will have a picture of a prophet and the title will be "THE PROPHET". This comic book will tell you stuff you never heard before. For all yahoo answerers, visit the website yourself. Hope this clarifies.
AS FOR MY OWN ANSWER: the Bible does in no way support your claims. The Quran and the Bible are two different books with different agendas and purpose and goal and etc.... The only reason that there are similar stories, is because Muhammad the self-styled prophet was doing research on Judaism and Christianity before he made his claim. To support his ideas he had to twist the stories of Jesus, Mary and Isaac and many others to keep his flock of followers following him in His new invented religion. The Quran is simply a nationalistic, keep in the dark, away from Christianity, continue with culture and values and persuations etc... tool of a different kind of Spirit. If the Quran fell right of heaven, why does it contradict the Holy Bible that is more ancient and precedes it? It can not even pass geographical, and timeline tests. It does not even know if the world is round like the Bible does!! ---but yet it came from the hands of God! *AT LEAST THE BIBLE IS HONEST WHERE IT TEACHES THAT THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN BY HOLY MEN OF GOD, INSPIRED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT. THE AUTHOR OF THE QURAN IS A MAN OR A PROPHET. HE BECOMES THE HOLY SPIRIT, THEREFORE I CAN SEE WHY SO MUCH ERROR.

Try again, John 14: 26
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
I think Jesus' Apostles knew about the Comforter...
I don't understand where you got the information that makes you think the Comforter would be a man...
The Holy Ghost can bring to your mind "ALL THINGS" if you pray hard enough for enlightenment.

John 14:15-20
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
You need to get out you binoculars to see this I guess. Did you by chance notice verse 20? IT SAYS;
AND THAT DAY YE SHALL KNOW THAT I AM IN MY FATHER, AND "YE" IN ME, AND I "IN" YOU.
That day that he is referring to is the day of Pentecost, that occurred Fifty days, after his Resurrection, the day of the Wave Sheaf Offering, recorded in Acts Chapter 1 and 2.
He was with them for 40 days after his resurrection, and then ascended up on high. Whereas, ten days later on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was sent, fulfilling John 14:15-20.
Dove and Fire are just "Two" of the Emblems of the Holy Spirit / Ghost. Some of the others are Wind, Rain, Water, and River. But Water is also an emblem for the Blood of Jesus.

The word in Greek for "comfort" is paraklesis. It means, exhortation, comfort, and encouragement.
In fact, a form of this word, parakletos is used for the Holy Spirit. That is why the Holy Spirit is called the Comforter in the KJV in John 14:26: "But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
He will stay for ever, so it can't be Mohammed as he is dead in his grave:
16And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever"
Jesus is talking to his deciples:
17even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him. But ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
the world can't see him or know him. But his deciples do, and note, he is i n them, so this can not be Mohammed.
The Spirit that Jesus promised arrived after Jesus ascended to heaven! This Spirit came as tonques of fire and rested on the heads of Jesus's Disciples and transformed them straight away! They were afraid of the public at first but when the spirit transformed them, they became bolder and spread the words of God fearlessly, even to the point of execution!
The Spirit is working miracles!......The spirit abiding in Christ's followers.
You need to read the following passage in it's context:
You will see that the people of Israel replied to God's word at Mt. Herob.
Deut. 16according to all that thou desired of the LORD thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, `Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.'
and God spoke to Moses (referring to the people of Israel)
17And the LORD said unto me: `They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren like unto thee, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him.
Their brethen would be the people of Israel.
Where did you get all this wrong information? I mean you can read the Bible yourself.
