I'm a Mormon, so I have nothing against a Mormon president. But I also hear a lot of strange things that people think about us. Could someone tell me why they would or wouldn't vote for a Mormon president?

I'd have to look deeper into your beliefs before deciding if I could vote for one. Just to make sure there was nothing that I think would interfere with him leading the way we need. Same goes for a Muslim president -- and I have. I reject Obama because I have read the Koran myself, and do not at all like some of those passages; plus he doesn't have any experience; plus he stands for liberal values -- sorry (now watch the thumbs-down I get from his supporters!). If a Mormon ran in my party's primary, I'd have to do my research (with an open mind), and that's all I'll say.

Despite the fact I do not believe in the Latter Day Saint Church I'd have no problem with a Mormon president. I mean, many people were apprehensive of John Fitzgerald Kennedy running for president back in the 1960's because he was a Roman Catholic and were concerned he might be taking his orders from the Pope instead of the US Constitution.

At this point, so long as the new president is competent and can do his job right, is the thing I care about the most.

I am Mormon and i think it would be good. People think it is a cult and even my friends say he is in a cult. Many people just misunderstand Mormons and many just don't like us. Still one of the most things say is "Mitt Romney is trying to make the entire country Mormon and he is trying to take over the world." But many people who think he is stupid but he is just like any other Republican president, the only difference is religion, also people are saying he is mimicing Joseph Smith. But watever they say, I say having a Morman president would be great, and if he is elected I think it would be cool to have a Mormon president before my mission. Also I would like a president with my beliefs. Lastly and aslo great is abortions and gay marrige will be taken away for 4 years. Peace Out!

Mitt may be a politician, and can even be called a mormon politician, and if elected, gay rights & federally funded abortions will take a back seat for four more years. In the grand scheme of things, that isn't nearly as important as to what's about to become of social security, illegal immigration and the islamic insurgency worldwide

While I'm sure Mitt's administration will probably more 'moral' than Clinton's, and less invasive than Bush's, there's a culture of deceit and secrecy already established in DC that'll work against him. The next president need to be a global statesman and a symbol of integrity in the US and worldwide. If Mitt can take on the overwhelming challenges and "fix" the problems caused by the current administration, he needs to convince us now.

I'm listening very closely.

I can't believe how ignorant a few of these people are that have answered your question. Anyways, you shouldn't vote or not vote for someone because of religion, any religion. Find out for yourself (which, unfortunately, takes a little research) which person you think would make the best president based on their views. Unfortunately, that's not how a lot of people vote.

I would because I am Mormon. Has he said "I would not be a Mormon president but a president who also happens to be a Mormon?"

Haven't you heard? The Mormons are plotting to take over the country! There's even a perfect replica of the Oval Office in either the Salt Lake or Washington D.C. temple! Getting Romney elected is the ultimate! Everyone knows he's only a puppet of the church leadership in Salt Lake! We all are!

(just in case you missed it, I'm being sarcastic)

Well I don't give a crap if he is mormon or not, To me its about his policies and whats best for the American people. I don't want another president forcing his religious beliefs down out throats like Pres Bush does.
