What would you say...?

I would tell them that I was once an Atheist but I felt like something was missing. I met some people who were Christians who felt passionately about God, and I could see something different in them.
After that I decided to search for what was missing, and I found God. So I am a Christian because God fills a void in me and makes my life better. I am personally happier and more hopeful then I was before and I know it is the right choice for me.

Interesting the way you phrased your question in the past-tense:
"...you where (sic) a Christian?"

I was a Christian, but I converted to Judaism.
When asked why, I have explained to family, friends and people in general that I've studied long and hard the words of Jesus.
And my conclusion is that I do not believe that Jesus would have wanted to start another religious sect.

Jesus was Jewish and he was a teacher of Torah.

Being as devout as he was, I am quite confident that he would have never violated the Second Commandment (see link if you've forgotten!).

And all his teachings were firmly rooted in Judaism.

Sooooo....that's what I say!

I appreciate life and love life. I wanted to learn about the Creator and draw close to him to thank him for creating us.
I read the Bible and started searching. I started studying with Jehovah's Witnesses and my eyes were opened to the truth. I learned that God's name is Jehovah and that he loves us so much he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ so we could have forgiveness of sins and life. That's why I'm a Christian. Love and respect for all that God has done for us.

the most simple explanation is - because you accept christ as your saviour.

You cannot have faith and be a christian unless God has given you "the call". I like to believe christians are the 'chosen ones' appointed by Jesus, who is controlling the earth, to spread the word and follow his teachings.

Christianity, i believe, is a religion of peace and love. We have to learn to forgive the sins of our neighbours and love them like we love ourself.

I am a Christian because God has showed himself to be real to me. I believe he exists and had made my life so much better. Something like that. I would suggest you try to believe in him, too. I'd say that. too.

I would say my mother had me baptized and sent me to church as a child. As an adult I see the teachings of the church are false, and blind faith has no purpose in my life.

Did any of you read the question is WERE (she misspelled it) NOT why you ARE a Christian

Because I love Jesus, and I want to do everything He ever said to do. Do I succeed? No I fail miserably. But He gave His life for me, so my life is His forever.

I would say that someone showed me that I had violated God's laws and was on an expressway to hell. Fortunately they also showed me how to avoid that destination.
