Simple. Just tell them that (that its not funny), and that good fans at the very worst, just boo.
If you just be a parent, and tell them that its wrong, everything will be ok

I want to answer the poster questions above. During the race yesterday DW and the Fox announcers said that over 70% of the fans at Talladega are Dale Earnhardt Jr fans. So that's why they assume the majority where Jr fans.
What makes it even more convincing that it was Jr fans is he publicly pleaded with his fans to throw toilet paper if they insisted on throwing anything.

See the nice red car that Junior drives? See what is written on the hood. That's why the moronic fans of Dale Jr. throw things at the track when he does not win, because that's what they have been drinking for the past 10-12 hours. See how NASCAR promotes the heck out of Junior and his car with that written on the hood? See how NASCAR promoted the drinking and throwing of the stuff that is written on the hood of Juniors cute little red car due to their over promotion of him? Don't do that!!!
Think that may work?

You just tell them, it really is not that hard to do. You just tell them that the fans were acting very immaturely. Also Dale Jr. told his fans not to do that. He does not codone that behavior.
Just be a parent and tell your kids that certain behaviors are wrong. I can't believe you even had to ask that question.

Perhaps we should all huff paint instead? What the heck does the sponsor have to do with it?
Can we start blaming the beer throwing fans on Kurt Busch? How about David Stremme? They drive beer sponsored cars.
Oh wait......yeah.....the whole fans thing...... nevermind....
Anyway, there's no reason to blame any one set of fans for stuff being thrown at JG. He is quite a polarizing character. People around here either plaster 24 all over themselves and their stuff or hate his guts.
Just tell your kids not to throw stuff at sporting events.

What I want to know is why all of you are making posts saying it was ALL Jr fans? I am still waiting for just one of you to show me why you make this statement. Show me proof that ever person was a Jr fan. You can't, b/c it wasn't just Jr fans. First of all, you don't teach your child to make such an ignorant statement. You teach your child that the actions were wrong, and why they were wrong. I might not care much for Gordon but he got his win fair and square and he deserved the celebration, he did NOT deserve to have things thrown at him. Teach your child that these people are not true fans, for a true fan would have better sportsmanship and more mature actions. And you teach your child that just because you don't like a certain driver doesn't mean you should act mature, blame everything on them, make stupid statements, and bash them every chance you get, whether you like them or not you should always give credit where it is due. people need to stop blaming Jr and saying it's ALL his fans, b/c it wasn't. Don't teach them something that isn't true, teach them the wrongs of these peolpe's actions and why it was wrong, who their driver is actually doesn't matter, b/c their driver has nothing to do with it.

Tell your children that some people are simply stupid, like the ones at Talladega that threw things on the track. I also recommend not taking them to Talladega. Also tell them to be a fan of a much better driver, like Tony Stewart. I've met him, very cool guy.

simple - by not doing it!!! what I mean is, acting more mature and hoping that the tracks where things like this happen enforce the rules and make arrests for things like this - maybe if that happened more often, these idiots would get the point that this kind of action by people who do this kind of thing will not be tolerated by those of us who don't want to be dragged down in the s#*t with said idiots....they are giving the rest of us a bad name!!!
