Ok mom I know how you are feeling. Part of the reason I am on here looking at this topic right now is for dealing with the same thing. I am home today from work, because my 20 mnth old is having a high fever for the last two days. He was listless all day yesterday and wouldn't hardly eat anything. Today he is still pretty out of it, but motrin is helping some. I took him to the hospital yesterday because his temp hit 103.5 and the drs looked at me like I was a pain in the you know what. It is extremely frustrating to watch your baby crying not wanting to eat, play or do any of their normal things they do, but I guess it's something we all have to go through. It's nice to know I am not alone. I'll tell you what my doc said to me, keep giving 1 1/2 tsp motrin or 1 tsp tylenol every 4 hours, give water, juice, popsicles anything to keep them hydrated offer food, but realize they may not have an appetite and ignore your chores to spend some cuddle time w/ your little one. I wish us both good luck. They'll be back to themselves soon.

Give him Tylanol or Motrin, and do everything you can to keep him hydrated with clear fluids. The fever could be no huge deal (if it hits 102 or 103, take him to the doctor, clinic, or ER), but a small child can dehydrate in a hurry. If he's not eating OR drinking, that's bad, and that's the more pressing issue.
I don't know about the real logistics of this, but like the answerer above me, my kids (three and five) have both had the fever-only virus. They would run a high fever, with no other obvious symptoms.

If it were over 103 and would not go down within an hour with medication, then I would seek emergency medical attention, but if its just a normal fever, like a 101, I give it a day or two and if its not down, I schedule a doctors appointment, no need to rush to the emergency room for something that isnt an emergency. Your not a bad mom for letting your son see his dad and his dads not a bad dad for not owning a thermometer, its just something that he should get some time for times like this. I would tell him to go to CVS, get a thermometer, take his temperature, and if he still has the same fever, call him doctor and schedule an appointment for tomorrow. In the mean time, keep him in bed with a damp cool washcloth on his forehead and plenty of drinks. If hes tired of laying down, set him up on the couch with a movie.

Their is a weird virus going around that produces a high fever with no other symptoms. All 3 of mine just got over it, 5 2 and 9 months. My pediatrician told me to give them tylenol and if it gets over 103 to call them.

Give him some Tylenol. My son always have fever when he was younger. His doctor always said it needed 4 days to clear the fever. Most of the time, he was right. And yes, and keep him hydrated.

Your child should be given tylenol to knock the fever down but if it persists and lasts longer than 24-36 hours you need to take him/her in. Also if it reaches 103 your child can start to convulse. Not good.

Since it was over 100.3 you should call your pediatrician to see what your child might have. It can be anything infecting. It might be severe if your child has not eaten. Maybe you should call for a appointment to see what virus or illness tou son has. ***TIPS*** Give your son a warm bath, Give your child Tylenol or anyother child safe medications.Stay with your son at all times and give him light foods light soup and saltine crackers

Any fever over 101.1 means that there is serious infection in the body and you should take the baby to the doctor asap.

If it's rising, the fever/infection/flu is getting worse. If you haven't already given him tylenol, do that. If that doesn't change it, call the doctor.
