Does anyone know what might be wrong? I have a Germon Shaphard/Lab mix dog, about 80lbs. Last december, my dog started sneezing periodically, and it gradually kept increasing in frequency over the next couple months. I couldn't afford to take him to the vet, so I kept getting worse. The top of his mussel started getting swollen and his breathing became audibly partially obstructed in his nasal passages. The inflammation has just increased as time has gone by, of which is very tender to palpation. He has sneezed so much a couple times, he has started a nose bleed. I took him to the vet finally, and the vet did a quick assessment and gave me an antibiotic, but its not doing anything, just getting worse. I have given my dog ibuprofin a couple times for the pain, and the swelling did reduce a little once, but came back. Anyone have any ideas? I am sure an X-ray and blood really needs to be done, but I can't afford that. The Antibiotics cost be $75.

Call the Humane Society and the Animal Defense League in your area and see if they offer low-cost vet services. Your poor dog really needs to go back to the vet.

First off stop the ibprofin that is not good for dogs it can be toxic if anything give him a baby asprin thats what any vet would recommend. Sounds like your dog needs predisone that will help with inflamation & he will also need antibotics. I would take him to another vet. If money is tight talk to the vet about making payment arrangments

If you let this go too far, when you finally do take him to the vet, it could be too late. So, you owe the vet some money. Get the animal in and get him checked.

You need to go to the vet - or at least call (thats free) tell them you cant afford expensive bills. They might be able let you pay over time, or give you a cheaper solution before jumping to x-rays.
