For Mac (I don't know if PCs are different):

accent on e , "é"

Hold down OPTION and press "e". That will give the ´
Then type "e" (again) and it will appear under it.

café, etc.

umlaut thingey, for u, ü
Hold down OPTION and press "u". That will give the ´
Then type "u" (again) and it will appear under it.

güiro, etc.
