if a recipe asks for bisquick and i dont have any can i use flour? is it the same thing?

Homemade bisquick:

Ingredients
2 cups flour
3 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoon shortening

Preparation:

Mix all ingredients. Blend until mixture resembles fine crumbs.

Use as a substitution for Bisquick mix. Store in a dry cool place.

Yield: 2 cups

No.. bisquick has other ingrediants in it.. try this:

3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

No, it is not the same. Flour is flour alone, bisquick contains all-purpose flour, vegetable shortening, baking powder, and salt.

Without baking powder, whatever you are trying to do it will not rise.

Sure you can use flour instead of Bisquick... but it's NOT the same thing...

u just need to add flour baking soda and powder salt to make the bisquick mix then u sshould be fine

Bisquick cannot be used interchangably with flour if it is all-purpose flour. If it is self-rising, you can probably get away with it.

Well, you probably can, but it won't taste the same just because
Bisquick has added flavoring in it.

if you don't have bisquick use flour as long as its self rising and it'll work just fine.

No, Bisquick is a biscuit mix, so you need the mix.
