"Hate the sin not the sinner" is Christian language for "I hate gay people because my religion tells me what to hate".So, that is why they punish the "sinner".

I think from an American societal standpoint, people punish criminals. Punishing sinners is a church thing. I think church members, at least Christians, try to get sinners to repent, rather than punishing them (or at least they should.) In other societies, sinners get punished for sinning (like being stoned to death.)

Since when has punishment been a source of hate. My parents punished me growing up, I do not think they hated me. What is hate now days? What it seems to be is that if one person says another persons way is wrong then that person who is saying the other is wrong is hating that individual. No wonder the world is going down the toilet with philosophies like this going around.

This is the behavior of perverts. For a complete general study on the disgusting holier-than-thou sadism of perverts, read about the inquisition.

For the same reason a father punishes his son, and yet still loves him.

How about expanding alittle. Why Do People Punish Sinners? Give example.

However not all who confesses to be Christians are not true Christians. Check out the 5th of the Seven Churches in Revelation. The Church of Sardis

The over all picture of this Church is seen in the fact it’s the least attractive of the seven churches, of which these letters were first written to.

The first thing I noticed about this church is in our Lord’s assessment, for he finds nothing to commend this church for. Nothing! Zip! Zero!

In verse 1 we read… These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Let’s stop here for a brief moment.

By now you should have noticed that the way the Lord presents himself to each of these Churches, is a key as to what the Church is in dire needs of.

Here, he refers to himself as “the one that hath or holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars."

Simple put, the "seven spirits" are a symbol of the Holy Spirit in His fullness, and the seven stars are these seven churches.

One of the things this church lacked was the Holy Spirit!

They lacked “life by the Spirit.” But, they also needed to be reminded that Jesus is the Lord of His Church!

For it is not left to the members to run the church, to set up its form of government or to determine the nature of its ministry, but it is the prerogative of the Lord in our midst, according to God’s Word.

Another thing one should have noticed by now is that the “life” of the church is revealed in its “works” or for a better word, deeds. Our Lord says, as he does in most of the letters, "I know thy works” i.e. your deeds."

In this we see there was work being done. However, as you will see “these works were done to impress” people. The works gave this church a name to live… thou hast a name that thou livest…

Other words; They had a good “Reputation” but in reality, in the Lord’s eye, it was actually a “dead” church… Jesus says "and art dead."

I believe, the members of this church were for the most part of them not even believers, they were not “Spiritually Alive”, they were “Spiritually Dead”!

Another key is in the word name “thou hast a “name” that thou livest”.

They were what we would call "Nominal Christians." Nominal comes from the word "name" someone who has a name for something.

In the opening assessment of this church our Lord has declared… that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.

Other words; They have a name to live, but they are not alive. They were dead!"

This indicates a church made up of people who outwardly professed Christianity probably many of them thought of themselves as believers. But who actually possessed no spiritual life. They were Christians “only” in name.

Unfortunately there are thousands of churches like this around the world today. It is what gives non-Christians such a negative impression of Christian faith.
