My dog jumed out of the window of a moving car going 50 mph. He seems fine except some minor scrapes and broken nails. This was three days ago and hes been running around. He does lick his nails alot though and after a couple of days, he has aquired a tiny limp.

Well it doesn't sound life threatening, but if a limp has developed after a couple of days there is obviously damage there that will presumably get worse.

I would advise a check with a vet - if there's a problem it's best caught early before it develops. It sounds like your dog would appreciate some anti-inflammatories at a minimum!

If you think there's a problem, it's always best not to wait. It might be nothing and resolve on its own, but personally I'd want my mind put at rest.

Jumping out of a car at 50 mph is very serious. Bring him to the vet-he could have internal bleeding or broken bones that you could never see. Frankly I think that it was very irresponsible of you to not bring him sooner. That's why people like you shouldn't have pets.

Well... Unless he is a trained stunt dog, I would be inclined to think that it was pretty serious. I haven't jumped out any car windows, but I tend to cringe when I think about it.. And your first thought isn't ' should see the vet make sure that there are no internal damages ' ?? Hmmm..

That limp sounds questionable - take him to the vet just to check. Better safe than sorry.

I would really get that looked at!! If there is something wrong then it could become more than what it is already. So i would cal l your local vet and get someone to look at it. Then go with what your vet is telling you to do. Then go from there. Hope your doggy is ok!

he should be ok but get a professional vet to look at it my friends a vet i shared this story with her she said that the limp is most likely from the nail breaking (watch not to get it infected) and he should be fine personal say with out seeing the animal

this is pretty common and not grounds for giving up the animal as one person commented its good you asked no get him looked at it's better to pay and be safe then lose your dog.
hope i could help!

If you had fallen out of a car going 50mph, wouldn't you have gone to the Dr? Idiot... take the dog to the vet - then adopt him out to a home that can properly care for him - holy cow!

all was well till you said the magic word... "limp"

Since he's developed the limp after 3 days, it needs to be checked.
He could have cruciate ligament damage, among other possibilities.

i would take him to the vet hospital or to the vet because he could have a broken bone or paw but it could also be bleedign inside so you don't want it to die
