You know, I think there is a children's book that would address this - Feathers and Fools. Through the beginning of the book, two kinds of birds point out all these differences between them and end up at war, killing all but a few eggs. Then, when the eggs hatch, the young birds talk about all the many similarities and live in harmony. I guess it is all a matter of perspective, but I think the penguins and puffins can set aside their minute differences and see celebrate their vast similarities.
