As far as we know, there could be a 15 foot tall part jungle kangaroo part manatee living in the Brazil rainforests that can walk and swim, as well as catch a fly a half mile away with it's 3,000 foot tongue. This is very improbable, isn't it? But does this make it impossible? NO. [Well, of course, this is just an example.] Centuries ago, when Australian pioneers came back to Europe and described the platypus, they were laughed at. Improbable, but they do exist.
So, just because u can't see God, and he's improbable, is he automatically ruled out?
I'm sure if u guys could have seen the things we have seen, and discovered the things we have, we could prove you wrong a million times over.
I'm not trying to brag you out, I just mean that if something hasn't been discovered yet, it doesn't mean it's not real. the Cancer cure hasn't been dicovered, so of course, it's impossible there is one. Which of course could be an understatement.

HappyKid,
I'm talking about over my whole lifetime. Most people don't get saved as soon as his evidence is seen. I just finally took all of it to where I need it the most.

Sentinel, and Jennnifaer,
Bravo! But I'm voting Jenn because she is right. I wasn't saying "WELL OF CORSE HE'S REAL" I was saying that it'a possibility. Most of them knew this, and it's getting me ticked off.

I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.

It *is* impossible that there is a cure for cancer NOW. That doesn't mean one won't be discovered in the future (or invented) -- in fact it's likely we will have one in the future. We can be fairly confident in that likelihood given our pace of medical progress over the past century.

Of course, it's not *impossible* for god to exist. But it is incredibly unlikely. Quantum physicists, for example, are fond of saying that it's *possible* for all the atoms in your body and a wall to line up just right at one instant to let you walk right through the wall. Possible? Yes. Unlikely? Incredibly -- there's never been a single document case of a person walking through a wall because of aligned quantum states.

The likelihood of "god" existing, however, is even smaller than that. Given the complete absence of any affirming evidence, and the overwhelming mountain of evidence showing that there is no such thing, the likelihood of god existing is so small as to be safely ignored. There's a better chance that every single humand alive today will experience that "quantum alignment" moment and all walk through a wall at exactly the same time...than there is that your god exists.
So please, trying to prove your god is "possibly" there is a waste of time. Yes, it's possible. But it's as unlikely as anything can be.

Peace.

Improbable does not equal impossible, you are correct. But God is more than improbable. He's impossible - because he is logically self-contradictory and thus cannot exist. You won't see any 15-foot jungle kangaroos that are also 5 foot jungle kangaroos.

Nothing should be ruled out. But that doesn't mean it has to be followed. Am I also to worshipped the Flying Spaghetti Monster or the Invisible Floating Rubber Ducky?

I respect your right to your faith. But don't try to translate the language of the soul into that of the mind. It won't work. I am still Buddhist, and you are still Christian.

Have a good day.

Yet when something is impossible, it just is impossible.

and the creatures you used for an example would be too large to live... it is a physical impossibility.

You are basically arguing that just because 1+1=2 that doesn't mean it can't equal 347.9785.

To all you sarcastic people out there, he's just saying that it is a possibility, he isn't asking you to take this info as proof of god and he didn't say that you should suddenly believe in one, he just wants you to consider it. Afterall, none of you gave any proof against a god now did you?

It really amazes me how unbelievers dismiss so easily the reality of God simply because they cannot fathom the depths of His mystery, and yet they put all their energy into human science that primarily deals in discovering mystery, anything that has been discovered by science has at sometime been mystery that has been stumbled upon.

Correct - improbable does not equal impossible. Equally, just because something is possible, it doesn't mean it does exist.

I don't see any reason to believe he exists, thus I act as though he doesn't.

Actually, it's fairly simple to prove that any theistic system is false, because a necessary consequence of theism is missing in our universe. Since the necessary consequence is missing, the cause must be as well.

Only deism and atheism are viable.

Great point. However, just because something is plausible, it doesnt make it probable, either. Or real.

I mean, it IS possible that there is a teapot revolving around the sun between Earth and Venus. But, its not probable.

I like to tell people:

"Your belief (or lack of belief) has nothing to do with the truth, or with the reality of what we are faced with".

And it is true. You can believe you saw the rubber ball nose on Bozo the Clown was yellow, but that would not change the fact that it was red.

Hope this helps...
