The only reason I'm considering one is because my boyfriend is Catholic and there are some parts of the ceremony, especially mass, that my friends who aren't Catholic won't necessarily get why we are doing and that they can't participate in the communion. It's just to give them a working time line for the wedding ceremony as it will be longer than most of the ones I've attended.

I am a graphic designer and can design programs in my sleep. My favorite was for my cousin's wedding. She was open to something unconventional. So I made it eight pages with a crossword puzzle and coloring page and a big photo spread in the middle of the bride and groom as kids. My aunt got some small boxes of crayons and everyone loved it. I paid for the printing and it was my wedding gift to them.
The standard program takes me about two to three hours to do. I even have a form for it. I think I'm addicted to doing them because I also have a form for funerals too.

I always enjoy looking at the program. To see whos in the bridal party, if I dont know them. To see who is giving a reading. Also a program might mention something special that guests would otherwise miss, for example, "The flowers on the alter are in memory of our Grandmothers" or something like that.
If you have a close friend who can use a graphic design program, ask them to help you out. Also there are some ideas for layouts at paper-source.com (look under Videos).
But if you decide not to do it, dont sweat it!

I stayed up until 4am 2 days before my wedding & 2am the night before my wedding finishing the programs & hardly anyone took/kept them!!! I have a crap load (which I am going to just toss out) that would have saved me a huge amount of time (and sleep). I had a very rustic/country wedding & they turned out really cute, but I think if the wedding is really formal they are more appropriate.

Being in a wedding and in the guest list I would say it is not necessary but it is nice to have. Being a guest I it was my personal preference to know what happens next so that I know if I needed to go to the restroom or what ever, I knew when to do it without missing anything.

While not necessary, they are a nice touch. They're helpful for the guests to know who the participants are, and the order of the ceremony. They'll also be a nice keepsake of your wedding.

Programs are not necessary. They do however make a nice touch to a ceremony - it can have whatever information you want on it so that's nice because you can really personalize them. Also, they make a nice memento for some guests to keep. It's completely up to you though.

Only if you want them. But no, they are not neccessary, it's just one more thing that someone like Martha Stewart has dreamed up to stress out brides all over the place.

i do no longer think of this is that stupid to checklist her two times. She is your father's important different and he or she happens to be a area of the marriage, subsequently you may might desire to point her in the two spots. in the event that they have been married you ought to checklist your fathers call and spouse and then positioned her call under attendant, yet because of the fact there no longer - i do no longer think of you have the different selection.
