the brain's function is to operate the body.

if the body stops functioning, then there is no reason the soul would remain.

the separation from the body is because it dies, the brain being dead is really just a technicality. if the body is still technically operating but cannot serve the purpose needed by the soul, it leaves.

why do people seem to think such things are blind, mechanical automated systems instead of being interactive, intelligently chosen behaviors?

if your driving along and your car stops working, you might try to fix it. you might determine it is unfixable in the current situation, and you leave. you might come back, you might not.

its a concious choice.

The spirit works through the whole body. That is why when there is death, the spirit is separated from the body. The intelligence you possess and knowledge you gain, and your experiences, will not die with the brain, but your intelligence is inseparably connected with your spirit.

There are many ways to die. But they all relate to the brain. Simple matter: No heart, dead heart -> dead brain -> No control, no spirit -> no longer alive.

no idea as I am not dead yet, but I think your body just rots away while your spirit goes to heaven or hell or where ever you believe its suppose to go.

when someone dies, it is because God has broken the bond btw. the soul and the body. Your soul is the eterna "you" , your beliefs, conscience, values, morals, etc.
