I agree that the best thing you can do is see a doctor, but it would help to know more. How much blood did you throw up? Did you just see a little red on a kleenex or was it a large amount? Occasionally coughing really hard can rupture a little blood vessel and it will bleed a small amount.
Next, what color was it. If it was bright red, it came from above your stomach. It was either from your esophagus, throat or lung. Sometimes people with pneumonia will cough up blood-streaked mucus. If the blood was from your stomach it wouldn't be red, it would look like coffee grounds because of the action of the stomach acid on blood.
What did you eat prior to throwing up? Did you eat any tomatos or food containing red peppers?
If you coughed up a large amount of bright red blood and you're sure it was blood, then you need to go to an emergency room right away. If it was just a small amount of bright red blood, make an appointment with an MD or go to a quick care clinic tomorrow. You'll be okay until then and it will cost you a lot less money.

If blood is coughed out, the source is from the respiratory system. If it is vomitted out, then source is the digestive tract. Wherever the blood comes and whatever is the cause, it should never be taken for granted. Go to see a doctor immediately. Think of keeping your life safe first, it could be pretty an emergency. Think of the rest later, in every problem there is a solution.

I agree with the others in terms of getting to the Emergency Room pronto. That is NEVER normal. You might have an ulcer (forming or already formed) and that could lead to you continually bleeding. My guess would be that you'd have to have a minor procedure done where the GI doc will place a small endoscope down your esophagus into your stomach just to see what's going on.
This procedure ins't bad at all. You're awake throughout the entire thing. Check out the link I'm providing to see bad cases.
Good luck.

ok, first of all, throwing up blood is never good. blood is not supposed to come out that way-so something that shouldn't be is bleeding. however, throwing up blood can be caused by many different things, like pneumonia, strep throat, any internal organs bleeding, TB, etc, etc. This is considered an emergency, so go to your local emergency room. you don't pay up front, and many hospitals have a charity you can get on and even if you don't qualify you can set up a payment arrangement after you get the bill.

Caughing up blood can never be a good sign. Most hospitals do not make you pay if you can't pay. Or, do you have a free clinic near by? Good luck and hope you are feeling better soon.

Throwing up blood is never ok.
You need a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. You can go in cash in hand, or try an urgent care clinic (phonebook to find one) and get treated, or consider contacting the county public health department in your area (again, phonebook) and asking them for a referral to a public aid health service in your area.
Do not ignore this. Throwing up blood is not good.

You go to the doctor. Explain you problem . Many of them will let you pay monthly on your account. This is serious. Don't put it off.
