Jedi...I am a Christian. I do not believe the Bible is the infallible word of God. I have answered this many times and if you want to see my answer, which is long, you can go to my blog on my 360.
If its as big as a dinosaur and as old as a dinosaur, its most likely a dinosaur (that is either a religious declaration that I believe in dinosaurs...or I am a dinosaur.)

Yes. God's word is never wrong. This infuriates men who would love nothing better than to make it wrong by any means possible. Consider a creature far above humans as we are from flees. What to us is a miracle, is simple science to Him.
Having one author but many writers is not a hard concept. Consider many of the big writers today. There are some who write in longhand on a legal pad, dictate onto tape, even dictate to secretaries. Other people take the words and put them in print. God simply used 39 over 1692 years.
The 66 individual books come together as a whole with a theme throughout of God's right to rule His creations; the challenge to that right, and vindication of His purpose for the earth and humans on it. Clearly the same author.
Since God made us, He knows the proper care and maintenance for the best operation of humans. The Bible is that Maintenance Manual for Mankind.

There are literally hundreds of "errors" in the bible. Anyone who says otherwise is deluded. Most are plain to see, and there can be no argument about the error (for example, Luke says jesus was born during the first census in Israel, while Quirinius was governor of Syria -- between 6 and 7 CE. Matthew says jesus was born during the reign of Herod, who died in 4 BCE. Obviously they can't *both* be right, so at least one of them is in ERROR. They could also both be wrong!). In other cases, it's a matter of scientific proof versus bible myth...that concerns myths such as bible creation, adam & eve, noah's ark, the great flood, the tower of babel, etc. Although bible apologists argue those events are factual, the only "fact" is that there is NO archaeological, geological, or historical (outside the bible myths) evidence of any kind that those myths are factual; on the other hand, there is a huge body of scientific evidence that shows they are incorrect, and are in fact simply myths.
Those who insist that the bible is the infallible word of god must accept an "infallible" god that makes mistakes, 'cause there are lots of them (as well as outright lies) in "his" book. Some apologists blame the errors on the men who copied, translated, or otherwise worked with the writings in the bible -- which is an indefensible position, seeing as how an almighty god could correct the errors anytime he wanted to. That the errors exist is proof that the god who is supposed to have given his word in the bible does not exist.
Peace.

Yes, absolutely. I will die believing this.
There are no errors in the original autographs. What we have today is man's copies of those autographs. There will always be problems in translation from language to language. Which English word best portrays the intended meaning of the Hebrew or Greek word in the original. Sometimes we do not have a corresponding word in our language. Of all the thousands of ancient manuscripts we have available today there is only about 1/2 % of variation between all the manuscripts. Nearly 90% of that variance is in the spelling of names and places. We know where 100% of all discrepancies are in the Bible and we know what they mean. No, there is no error in the Bible.
Could it be wrong?-I doubt it.
EDIT: Yes, that means that evolution can not be true. In addition to what the Bible says about origins of man-there are many scientist who do not accept evolution. This is nothing new.

II Timothy 3:16-17 - "ALL SCRIPTURE is given by INSPIRATION OF GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
II Peter 1:20 and 21 - "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any PRIVATE INTERPRETATION...........
holy men of God spoke as they were MOVED BY THE HOLY GHOST."
Isaiah 40:8 - "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, but the word of our God shall stand forever."
The best thing to do with the Bible is to believe it an obey it.
Skeptics have always doubted the Bible, but it has been well
documented through Archaelogical finds, transformed lives, miracles, confirmed prophecies, and obvious current proofs
of prophecy being fuliflled even this very minute.
Personally I know the Bible is the Word of God because I know the author personally and He has saved and sustained me for over 33 years.
I have seen healings take place in the name of Jesus Christ, many prayers answered when I prayed according to God's word without telling anyone but God about my needs, I have seen men and women delivered from drugs, demon possession and much more in the name of Jesus, I have been granted great power in preaching and ministering in churches and in the streets and in door to door witnessing, and much, much more.
It won't matter how often people question the Bible. It will stand when every other book ever written is long gone and the earth is no more and men stand face-to-face with God.
God will preserve it and keep it unto eternity. It has withstood all its critics and skeptics and has done more good than any book ever written. The people who follow its teachings with the help of God are much more stable and realistic about life
and far more prepared to face life's challenges and death.
Yes, indisputably the Bible is God's Word, and everyone will get that knowledge in their heart either in this life or when they
stand before the judgment seat of Christ. God will not force anyone to believe it - It is an individual and personal thing between each person and God Himself! God arranged it to be that way so that nobody will have an excuse or be able to blameshift when He passes judgment on those who reject it.
Those who know the Lord and His word will face Him on that day with confidence of eternal life and peace with Him.
AFTER READING THROUGH THE ANSWERS I MUST ADD
ONE MORE SCRIPTURE THAT IS IMPORTANT TO THOSE WHO PROMOTE THEIR IGNORANCE OVER SCRIPTURE.
I Corinthians 14:38 - "But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."

New Testimate Only:
No, it is not. The bible has been heavily edited, mistranslated, and deliberately re-written. The closest thing we have to a "true" bible in English is the King James Version, as that was a direct translation from the original texts into middle English.
The bible was not written by God, it was written by man decades (perhaps centuries) after the death of Christ. Then edited, then translated, then translated off the translation. It is hard to believe that some errors didn't creep into the mix, as God is perfect, but man is not.

I trust that the Bible is the Word of God. If people say there are errors in it, I believe it is their understanding that is wrong. The Bible has stood the test of time and has changed the lives of countless people for the better. I believe it is God's greatest way of communicating with us.

I believe that the Bible is perfect in the sense that it is inerrant and infallible. That means it in its original form, the Bible is without error and that what the scriptures say regarding matters of faith and Christian practice are wholly useful and true. It does not mean that there are no grammatical or transcription errors.
