you might hear the occasional "fresh fish!" or get a coke or two snatched from you. Your with 100s of other freshman your age... And there is a large maturity differance with high school and middle schoolers. People tend to give up on picking on Fish after a week or two.

Its really not as bad as in TV or movies where the 9th graders get shoved into lockers and all that lol. Unless your future high school is notorious for hazing or things like that (which you can avoid simply by not joining groups) it'll mostly be a smooth transition. The school deals with this every year so they have things in place to help you along the move. Also you're there with all your friends and ton of other 9th graders -just stick with your friends and for the most part its no big deal. Before you know it you'll be laughing at how scared you were and seeing next years 8th graders going through the same thing.

5'4 is not short lol I'm 5'1 and I never had any problems...high school is scary on the first day but everyone is getting used to it so it's not just you. Hopefully you already know some people from the middle school to sit next to, if not just go into a secluded area like by the lockers to eat.
Avoid on the first day any kids that are loud or standing in like the middle of everything. They will try to put you down, those are the kind of people they are lol. Just hang out with cool people, there are lots of them.

Every freshman gets messed with, so just try to ignore it as much as you can (if they don't mess with you, it's worse, because you don't exist). And everyone's opinion of you will change in just 4 quarters anyway.
Spohmore year, *everyone* ignores you. Your classes will be the hardest here out of all 4 years. Take advantage of this. Study hard without the distractions of the higher grades. This year can make your junior and senior years easier by getting the harder courses out of the way here and taking electives those years, or setting yourself up for college and taking the opprotunity to challenge yourself. Either way, Colleges look at the last 2 years, mostly.
Whatever you do, just be yourself and don't give in to any one group to be popular. You won't like yourself much and might have to give up some real friends just to fit in. And, if you move away to start a job, go to college, or others will go to colleges, you won't have to deal with the assholes that long, and you will probably never see them again.

Don't worry!!! Unless you're in a really rough school district, which I doubt, you really shouldn't have any trouble. Going into high school made me a bit nervous, especially because I missed the first day, but I actually had more positive experiences than negative ones in high school, and believe me, I was a nerd. But taking classes with upperclassmen is a good idea because then you can make friends in the upper grades as well and you won't be afraid of them. Trust me (and this is coming from a high school senior), unless you give us upperclassmen a reason to pick on you (as in you're really annoying) then we won't. We have so many other things to be focused on.

I actually think that kids were meaner in the 8th grade than in highschool. I think you should quit worring! You may be short now, but you could get alot taller over the summer. It's not going to be that bad. One day you'll look back and wish you were in highschool again ;)

I think everyone feels this way with a high school transition. There is nothing to be afraid or though I promise. It's a new experience and you wont get picked on! As long as you have your friends thats all that matters in the world.

You are going to be scared youre whole life. when you are 40 years old, and go to a job interview, you will be just as scared. it never changes. Stand up for your values, and be who you are, that is what will make you likeable, and cool. I was a short guy going into high school, and a poor kid. but i ended up being the prom king. And i was just me. i did not party and smoke dope just to be cool and fit in. make every day a masterpiece, and you will enjoy life. you are about to pursue a great adventure, enjoy the ride. good luck buddy.
