THIS is the reason so many unwanted animals are dumped onto the shelters and why millions of wonderful pets die every year. People should DO THEIR RESEARCH before purchasing pets. Dogs grow up. Some get big (the benefit of getting a particular breed--you can tell about how big it will get!). They have to be trained in proper play manner. Any dog can flourish in a small house or a small backyard if given enough attention and taken for walks.
Contact a rescue group (here are just a few: http://www.springerrescue.org/, http://www.maessr.org/, http://www.essrescue.org/, http://www.homestead.com/Springers/), see if they can take in one more pet. Place ads in your local paper (be sure to charge an adoption fee, and interview potential adopters to be sure it won't be going to another home that will just want to get rid of it). If you adopted your dog from a reputable breeder, they should take it back as well. Place flyers in your local pet store. There are so many options! Just don't bring it to a shelter if you can help it.
And please, DON'T adopt another pet if you're not prepared for the responsibility of pet ownership.

Being an animal lover and a dog owner myself, i am totally disscusted that you did not look into this further before bringing this lovely puppy into your home and have it thinking it is with a loving family. It does not matter whether it is a big dog or small dog, they all bite alot especially when they are puppies, but they are only playing. You wouldnt get rid of a baby because its biting or teething, so why should a puppy be any different. If you only like small animals, then why did you get this puppy in the first place. Its very irrisponsible of you and just to let you know, all dogs poop, whether its big or small.
If you live in the uk, you will be better advertising the puppy in a paper called the "Loot". or get intouch with your local animal rescue. I really hope this puppy gets the love and care that it needs from a proper animal loveing family.

The dog can be taught not to bite. And springer spaniels, while good-sized dogs, aren't really that big.
But if you can't handle him, you can put an ad in the local papers. Or at worst, you can take him to the animal shelter.

You need to take the puppy back to where you got it. It's unfortunate that you took the puppy without doing your homework first on the size of the breed, etc. You need to read up on what type of dog would be best for your home, think seriously (and honestly) about your lifestyle, and then when you go to pick out a dog, spend some time with him/her. And please, since you are obviously inexperienced with dogs, do consider getting a nice older dog. Puppies may be 'cute' but they grow up to be adult dogs. In the meantime you have to be able to deal with puppy poop and constant cleanup, as well as barking at inappropriate times and chewing on shoes and clawing furniture. Puppies are OK for those who are experienced at having a dog, as well as those who can be at home with the pup, but they suffer at the hands of inexperienced and often impatient owners.
Do your homework first and you will have a much better fit - which by the way is much more important for the dog's sake than for yours since they have no voice to speak on their behalf.

You really should have thought about this before you got a dog. Eventually all pups turn into adults which tend to be big DUH. Anyway put flyers up, put an ad in the newspaper, ask around. Worst comes to worst take it to a no kill shelter. The poor pup will have to go to a new home hopefully they are more responsible and will KEEP the dog

most newspapers will run your ad at no charge if you are giving it away for free. You might try asking some friends or relatives, as well. Don't take it to a shelter or it may end up being put to sleep.

Take him to a shelter where people will make sure he gets a good home. A puppy of any kind is probably not going to be well suited to your household based on the reasons you have given for getting rid of the one you have.

a very important question to ask potential puppy takers-
"if you decide you dont want it, what would you do with it?"
if they say back to you then thats a good answer!!! pound- wrong, drop off-duh, wrong, ad i nthe paper- ehh... if they made sure it was good owners then ok!
you dont want a pup to get into careless hands! besides, if they bring it back to you, you can just do it again! and ask the same question! so you can be sure your pup isnt dropped off or set free, or worse ::shudder:: the pound!
